That's true, I can't get more than 33mpg, but strangely, it makes no difference whether I use the power and speed, or try economy driving ..................... so I don't bother :!: 8)

Sounds like yours is more economic than some of the new euro5 vans 8)

Best I got out of the Tddi was 40mpg but that was going silly slow, at more moderate speeds 36-37mpg could be done but like you, 33-34mpg was more typical. Sadly with more basic injection and fuel control it will never be as good as the TDCi's, i'm pretty confident that with a few more psi in the tyres, a fresh air filter and a proper economy run I could see 45mpg, which is better than some cars!

Yep, what a bullshitter! Why is that hard to believe? You dont use the power all the time, 8-10 of ten i'm farting along not going over 2.5k because I dont need to, a good map gives better fuel economy than a standard map all day long, if you know what your doing and fortunately i have a very good mapper. The EGR is also disabled on mine and this helps too.

Its a Torque Pro for Android. Sends signal from OBD to phone via Bluetooth, brilliant bit of kit. My van already works out the range so the info was there, the phone simply collects it.

Lovely looking van, (I keep thinking of it as Moby!).

Interesting mods and mpg results too.

Put it this way, I had 100 miles left on the range, I put £45 of VPower in, drove 170 miles to Guildford AND back, with 40 miles left on the range. Now people are entitled to think to themselves its bullshit but tbh, there is now doubting its very economical, wasnt expecting that sort of figure as some cars struggle to get that! Dont think there is any van on the market now that could match it, even the EcoNetics.

Nope its the 4.23 Economy diff, yours is the 4.54. Will make some difference but the mpg book figures in the manual for a Mk6 85PS actually had the 4.54 doing better on fuel @ 56mph than the 4.23! I never found any real world difference, my first Mk6 works van had the 4.23 diff and never noticed a difference between the two.

Comparing the 2.2 TDCi V 2.0 TDDi, so many differences with the engine alone which works in the Mk7's favour. mpg wasnt ever an issue with the old van though.

In standard form, I don't think that the 2.0 85ps would pull a 4.23 diff without dropping down gears at low speed, making it less economic, BUT with the remap it will pull 5th gear from very low speed, even when loaded, so possibly would be more economic with the lower diff.
Having said that, I don't think it would feel as quick as it now does, with a 4.23 :)

You're certainly getting some impressive MPG with the TDCi, and with the miles that you cover, must be quite happy 8)

I don't remember the standard 85PS with 4.23 FDR having any problems although the one I had was very sprightly and quicker than the 100PS they had on fleet at the time!
