Hmmmm..... starting to wonder about this engine, its allegedly a 76000 miler, but externally its in worse shape than my 126000 miler its replacing.
perhaps its just never been cleaned and been sitting for a while, but i didnt like the look of the inside of the waterpump, so i decided to replace it, taking off the timing belt cover i found the belt was pretty badly perished and stretched, to the point where the cam timing was slightly off
also took the dizzy cap off and found the rotor arm broken
hope im not doing all this work to find that its a dud
all the work replacing the pump and the belt ( and the t'stat while i was at it) has delayed me a bit, but i only need another couple of hours till i can turn it over on the starter and start setting it up - oil change, plugs etc, plus the timing will need doing - i might have the rocker cover off and do the valve clearances while im at it.
does anyone know what the static timing should be set at for a 1994 2.0 EFi
