Hey thanks for the post mark, you know how to boost someones confidence m8 Nice to have someone see the good side to things and the bad lol. Thats what i thought too . Couple of quid a bung and im still waiting like you say to see if he does scrape it back off ,but if he dont, im not.


As for the spray job , like i said its hasnt been rushed it is top quality paint , epoxy primered 2 pac laqeured pearl finish , being double wax oiled through underneath and back , Has been epoxy primered , the front end is virtually newly replaced with new parts bonnet etc .Only part that worries me is the roof which is stonechipped as it was bad and had welding along seems. Anyway the sprayer has a reputation and everytime i ask him on rust he reckons looking at minimum 5-6 years on this bus , although did say to me,to do what people with classic cars and collectors do with their vehicles.That is to protect em, and bring it back once a year to him to play around with it if theres a problem.I do feel extremely happy myself with the way this paintwork has turned out.

As for the old "oh its had a spray job" well looking at my van most people would probably agree its definateley for the better. Rather it be like this than picture one i posted.I see your point though it bugs me too and rust is one of those nigglers that gives every1 hidden stress elevation and high blood pressure.Its a ghost that hides itself on both the van and the human body.Im not worrying its not worth it .Lifes too short man.

There is a difference to something being colour coded to something that wasn't masked off/removed prior to spraying. Afterall this was all mentioned long before the top coat went on.

Say you had a rear end smash and it was an insurrance job, you would be complaining, this is no different except YOU are paying for the work not the insurrance company.

To repeat I LIKE THE COLOUR! and the overall appearance...except the shortcut, which could have been avoided.

I can see by the progress pics what is under the paint the same as you.
I NEVER called it a quick blow over. That comment was given as the normal one that is used by people seeing an unknown van with the overspray present. As for Rolls Royce of course it isn't but when you use the following as justification for the paint job

It is to be expected that the job has been done correctly. But when an overspray/bad masking item/s has taken place it is unfortunate. The justification for the person (sprayers) missing this and the mentioning it to that person as having personal problems is a whole different ball game but then so what! If I paid someone to do a job and they got it wrong I would tell them.
The cost of the paint and time is far from low, all for the sake of around £12 the result 'could' be compromised. Whilst the bungs can be removed and cleaned, the edge of paint and lacquer WILL break and the hinger covers will certainly NOT come off cleanly so MORE paint work will have to be done to remedy the shortcut.
Call it nit picking if you want but the result is there for all to see.

Once this slow dries hes going to be prepping it again can you believe and keeps redoing the same panels.Putting a lot of work and time into it i must say.Paint was well expensive.

not being funny but .... why oh why dont people strip vans/cars properly before spraying
ie: the rubber bug on the rear door hinge, the black rear plastic vent that un clips, the front window surround that pulls off , the sliding door channel??????

thanks greyvanman for the observation.Better eye than me,although i know the sprayer and he will remove them
PS sliding door channel has been released from behind,alex isnt on the back doors yet and no doubt he wil remove the hinge rubbers,and vents(already taped),and will definately remove window gasket too.
Well i hope so as well but i have faith..

hey guys thnx for the replies and rants.
Im glad the topic of spraying the bung has been brought up as i noticed it weeks ago on final laquer but as yet have not said nothing as it does look pretty cool like it is ,but i know what you mean about cracking in time. Im a fair guy and we can all make mistakes ,and the sprayer is having a hard time going through a divorce ,so i gotta give him some slack.If i say something it aint gonna make the matter better ,just worse.

ok heres another rear pic today after fitting a full stepup bumber.

Weighs a ton nightmare to fit ,predrilled 1/2 " out and tight against the back end and not close to corner caps.Its cut out for the corners perfect .Net pics how it snug up against corners but mine is away 1 1/2"Looks and feels gr8 though.Dont know wether to colour code it or leave it, now theres lots of black on the back.

Lights out again ,just got the bonnet fitting like a jag.Bit of blacking on light frames and bonnet pole colouring and then on with the lights.Also im gonna have to buy a bonnet sound -fire blanket.God knows how much they are but i guess scrapyard will be black as bovril too.

Well the van has now left the sprayers (gonna buy him a case of beers) and is ready for some more work on electrics , cab kit out the back, roof bars , small welding on back an before i wax oil . Im after some door rubbers but ford stealer wants like 60-70 a rubber.Hmmmm . fu*k that i say.Thinners has brought the old up well but there tiresome.Having trouble with the back doors .For 1 there V'd but close sweet without the gasket seal on the leading door.If i put it on it throws the door out well past the other.Is there plenty of adjustment somewhere?

The bus is looking very finished on the outside now and im breathing a sigh of relief with it . Headlights have been swapped over and shes had a good buff and wax.

Forgot the camera of all days so i havnt got no pics till monday but i will post some soon. Found weld pitch marks on passenger side window.O well will have to either buy a new 1 or weigh up how to rid em.Not sure if i can

All in all this week has seen major rapid progress .Glad its over.

Van is now in the autosparks and have forgot my camera again. Having the e/w fitted again and a new alarm to central locking. For any1 that might be able to help me out i was wondering on a small problem.

My old setup was central locking on the two cab doors with deadlocks on side and rears. Now the new slider door came off a W plate BT van and has a slam lock as standard. Will it be easy enough for the electrician to put central locking to this door too?
