I would suggest mounts for volvo 240... they come in different rates of strength( how hard the rubber is) and are like 60mm high and a diameter of ca 70mm.... and they are pretty cheap( at least here they dont cost much, even as brand new stock ones...)

Todays progress

ive got the prop off and its all measured up - i'm gonna have it modded this week then i can set the gearbox mount angle :D the engine fouls the subframe so i took that off and cut out the area that was in the way :D

Image

you can see what ive cut away here - it will need boxing back in to give it the strength back but 1st i'll fit it back to the van to make 100% sure ive cut enough off :D luckly the rack can still retain the origanal position :D

Image

now ive got the engine sat right i thought i'd try the inlet side and amazingly it fits perfect- quite handy as it saves me having to make something up :D unfortunatly the inlet is in the wrong place but i can move that by making a spacer angling it to the right a bit - should do the trick 8)

Image

ive also took the top hose body off to modify that :D

just needs the front crossmember trimming back a bit :D
winterheating wrote:what angle is the gearbox at with engine that low :?:
about 5deg - its not much lower than the cossy mabe about 1-2" at the crank but the top is about 6" lower ive tried to set it as it was in the aristo but theres only a set space for it to go in - ive read up and i think i'm ok on the prop angles - the 1st section needs to be in line with the centre bearing as there is no u/j - ive spent ages messing with it and in the end thought sod it just get the prop made up and see what it looks like - i can always alter it after (angles) but the prop length will be the same whatever :D

yep i'm loving it alright 8) 8)

bit of progress to report ........... :D and :(

1st the :D

got this welded this week - it's the top hose housing modded so it wont foul on the radiator :D

Image

the guy who welded it me wont let me post his name up as it was a poor quality casting and he can't garentee it  looks good enough to a bodge artist me - i have faith  but thanks anyway you know who you are

now the :(

took my propshaft down to propshaft technologys in rotherham, they have done all the previous mods to the prop on this van but they can't do this one - i wanted the toyota guibo front end mating to the transit body - as the transit prop is much bigger than the toyota one - i really only wanted something to get me going with 350bhp and i realise when i start to push the BHP that the prop will need uprating but as it is i might need to have a bespoke prop built now - as i can't imagine the van working with out a prop

still a minor set back :x
