Thanks Tim, the vans getting there, i still have the arches, sills, 1 wing, and repair the bottom of the tailgate to do. After all that is done i'll move on to the engine next if all goes well. But the engine swap is not something i can do myself. How much would you charge to do the swap? i realize your a way down south, but your work is worth the drive 8)

Putting a turbo on your di engine would be the other option, similar performance, but not quite the same 'nice' exhaust note though.

The conversion parts we manufacture for the Essex engine are still only £355 to forum members, although we are developing an alteration to the pas pump mounting bracket, this will increase the total cost slightly.
There is a bit of wiring and plumbing to do but nothing major.

We do have one engine here, I would be willing to install it in the 'Surrogate Mother' and test it, that way we could supply you with everything you needed to complete the installation, including water hoses and an engine wiring loom, all 'ready to fit' 8)

Keep up the good work mate,

TIM

i had thought about putting the turbo on the di, but i cant deny that i like the idea of the V6 8)

i do have a bit of work before i'm ready for the V6 but i defo want to go that route. problem with my van is it has already had an engine swap by the previous owner who changed it from the turbo intercooled engine to the older di that's in it now, and in the process they cut off the original wire loom that came out from the passenger side of the van. so its kind of a mess under there now from what it was.

if you could put all that kit together that would be amazing, but if you were interested in doing the swap for me, i could trailer the van down to you when the time was right. my brother is coming over from Canada to paint it when its ready so i could take the di out and paint the engine bay at the same time ready for the V6 8)

It would be a pleasure to fit the engine for you, in what by then will be a really well restored van :D

Let me know nearer the time and I will get the engine we have in the 'Surrogate Mother', that way you can hear it run and know it is all good.

Then all we will have to do is 'plop' it into your van, together with all the ancillaries, this will reduce the fitting time.

Worth asking your insurance company. I have recently insured my 76 HP van and told them I would be replacing the engine this year with
a turbo version of the same Di engine. They said that providing the engine capacity was the same it wouldn't be a problem.,

i just went onto my dads motor trade insurance so i'm lucky in that way, i just pay the one off charge and i'm covered on what ever i drive, but if it wasn't for that i'm sure i would be paying a small fortune :?
