It made sense to me when I thought of it anyway, not sure it came over very well though :?

Rover.
makes sence to me :D good idea  - even if you only did it from the middle one it would help loads :D

this week i have been mostly putting engines in ....... :) and out, and in again.....

I bolted up the MT75 to the V6, as i thought it would be easier than tryin to do it under the van.....? Well as Guy pointed out , you DO have to drop the X-member to install the V6 c/w MT75, but that aside, it all went in OK, a bit of a pig on your own, but do-able... i have now measured up the clearances available for the new tubular ex manifolds, and the position of the new sump spigot for the cam- oil return...

http://photobox.tiscali.co.uk/album/alb ... o=88794258

here are some photos of the V6 in situ and the space around it....

now to strengthen the sump, drill some holes in it, and sort out the EFI... ha ha ha ....... :)

prop on....

Postby dipstick » Mon Jan 01, 2007 3:53 pm

Guy,

The rain stopped for 10 mins this morning!! :)

I had to drop the X member, and release the rear g'box support rubber, and then with the drive flange of the MT75 low enough, i was able to fit up the prop shaft OK.... It is because the drive flange of the MT75 has a 'spigot' that centres in the prop flange that i had to drop the back of the box.....

Once i put the X member back, i had to slacken of the rear G'box support bracket, on slots in the x member, and bring it back by 1" or so ....
Not sure why, but everything fits OK now, prop spins freely, engine is sitting pretty in the engine bay, and the gearbox is OK for fitting the gear stick and big rubber 'donut' thingy ....... :)

cheers, and Happy New Year

engine NOT in middle

Postby dipstick » Mon Jan 01, 2007 8:40 pm

Guy,

How do mean , not in the middle?

Do you mean the engine is not centred between the two mounts...?

I did find that the first time mine went it, the driver side rubber did not 'slide' down the mount far enough, but i lifted under the sump a fraction, tapped it sideways, and then lowered the engine back down, and it centerd itself fine...?

Are you sing Granny engne mounts, or tranny ones? New or old rubbers??

cheers :)
