bit of a problem with the door :( it's miles out :x

cant really see to well in the pic but :)

if we get the top in line the btm is aboout ½" out - the other door was almost as bad, i think i might have to weld a new panel in behind it :(

no the A post is ok .... i think :? the wing is a poor fit (a bit too far back) but acceptable, the sill lines up with the door ok but i welded that on :) i think it's the B pillar thats out the btm bit only tho - its like a patch work quilt allready :(
i'm not aiming for a show finish - i'm not spending on any new panels, but i cant really have it with a ½" gap in the door  i thought it was the door that was the problem as the last one had been reskinned badly but this door is the same :(

i'll give it a go geoff :D

with the other van i put new doors on they were a pain too - i had to make up some shims and slot the hinges to give a bit more adjustment but it ended up ok :) this one is loads worse :(

it does look in at the top i think thats as it fell for the pic when we pulled out the top the btm was still out :)

Hey Luke,

If you've got a problem with the top of the door fitting flush and the bottom jutting out.
or
The bottom fitting flush and the top jutting out.

You could bolt the door on with the bottom fitting flush and make the top fit as the window frame will bend as certain points.

Thats was one of the ways i got my door s to fit. The other was to slice the inside of the door frame six inches up, bend the outside dorr skin to fit the door frame and re-weld.

We used to call this Fettling to the customers...... .........

i had a similar problem on my white mk4 luke. it was in at the front and would spring open if you didnt slam it hard shut. someone ( might have even been geoff) suggested the bit of wood trick and it worked a treat - the hinge plate gets bent from the door being flung open too hard too many times :!:

No how you feel there Luke nearly a year since I had to sell my MK1 and still p*****s me off that I had to sell her, due to loss of storage. What makes it worse was that the owner of the sheds I'd rented for about 20 years, told me I had to get it out
afterI sold it he turned round and said
Oh there was no rush to move it :x
If my mate had'nt took a shovel off me I might be up for murder now

just bumping this back up - i managed to keep it in storage but long term it doesnt look good :(

if anyone fancies a project make me an offer - i'd love to see this finished and at the shows where it belongs and realistically getting time to get it done for me is gonna be hard :(
