Good idea about using some tube mate, cheers :D

I think that is the way it will go, tube on the side of the chargecooler, outlet towards the front, 'U' shaped bend back to the inlet.

Cheers again for the idea mate :D

Mr Knighty Sir! That was a goodun!

Found a suitable round tube, intake manifold from some Sofim engine, cut it at an angle as you suggested, here we are;

Hi mate,
It is from a Supercharged Jaguar XKR, the straight 6 one not the V8
The V8 has two separate coolers, one for each bank, although the V8 version does have a larger cooler radiator which looks to be a good fit in front of the Transit radiator.

Keep an eye here, not done much recently but I do hope to get this on the van in time for North Weald.

Just to keep this thread 'up to speed' :lol:

The charge cooler is now welded up, the XKR charge cooler rad should be with me in the next day or so 8)

We did modify a spare air con radiator to use as a charge cooler rad, but it will not fit, (too high), in front of the existing air con rad :( , so if anyone fancies a charge cooler system, we have a rad going spare.
This will bolt directly to the larger water rad used with the air con versions of the Mk5 and would be fine for me if I was prepared to remove my factory air con!

The Bosch charge cooler pump, 0392 022 010, has been ordered from the States, sickening that this is almost half the price I can get one for in the UK from my Bosch agent!
The above pump is supposed to be the best one for the job, favored by the XKR tuners in the States, hence the good availability the other side of the pond.

I will be using a separate system for the charge cooler, utilising an additional header tank mounted where the DOHC one would be.

I intend to continue to run the stock turbo for the time being, it will be interesting to see what difference there is with the charge cooler.

Once I can get that dammed Photobucket to work, you will have some nice pictures to look at :lol:

Had a little 'play' today :D

I made up a mounting for the chargecooler rad and the larger front mount intercooler using the 'Surrogate Mother' as a jig!

I installed the wide water rad and the a/c rad to match the chucklebus and made this;

I had already converted the second a/c rad to be used as a chargecooler rad, but mounted in front of the a/c rad it was impossible to reach the bonnet catch!

The XKR chargecooler rad was mounted first, the lower height of this unit does allow the bonnet to be opened!
The intercooler was mounted in front of this.

I should be able to replace the two ends and the top of the grille but will need to remove the center part of the front bumper, the part the number plate secures to.

The jag chargecooler is now welded up and awaiting installation on top of the engine;

The inlet connection is a new unit purchased from Jags, but might need some modification!

This is how the set-up should work;
Image

The above layout is for a lotus but should work well using a separate header tank, mounted where it would be for DOHC engines.

I do intend to try with just the chargecooler system and no intercooler, the one under the bonnet needs to go as it is impossible to get adequate air flow to it!
