Wel... i put the van in for its MOT... just topping up the washer fluid in preperation.

Passed again... 1 advisory for a cracked mirror glass (same glass, not got any worse from last year).

Tester commented on the brakes though... 98% efficiency

In celebration I fitted a boost guage... Its running about 1.5bar (21PSI) at the moment!!

The same story I heard yesterday - however I know I need to replace brake discs and pads, there is rust everywhere after last winter and the corrosion is quite deep :(

That seems to be quite high. So... it might be really high or the boost gauge is broken ;)

That would be because there is an adjustable boost controller on it... and its wound right up

I thought I had updated this before... but nevermind

It went to North Weald and did rather well.

First run was rubbish, because the lastminute.com intercooler pipework failed... so bypassed it and carried on without.

A little bit more weight in the van than last year (flooring, carpet & intercooler  ) but smashed the time. Even leaving the passenger seat etc in I got 18.82 seconds @ 71mph making it the fastest DI on the forum :D :D . Thats quicker than all the non-cossy V6s (most of which were stripped as far as possible) except BrownysV6 mk3. Im not going to mention the mk7 140PS tourneo I beat

Im sure I will be back in 2nd place next year when Tim gets his sorted though...

I am also running around in it for the next Fortnight. It cruises happily at 70 and tops out at 85 with the 5.14 diff, used a little more diesel than I hoped but I can live with that. But... it really does need some more sound proofing! After 6 straight hours in it yesterday my ears were ringing! Much more comfy than the focus though so swings & roundabouts!

(Oh and its got a DAB radio now  )

Are you keeping the current diff for acceleration, or will you change it for a taller one?

I've got a taller one (4.11) sat in a bucket in my workshop ready to go in.

I have driven to North Wales this week, North Yorks tomorrow eve, back to wales and then back south next week... If I had had time I would have swapped the diff last Sunday.]

I don't think the taller diff will adversly affect the times on the 1/4 because I run out of revs near the line in 4th (but there is only one way to find out!)

My car has not been well, so I have been using the van to go to North Wales & Back for the last few weeks...

Instead of £100 a week in the car, its nearer £180  (when running on diesel)

The 4.11 doesn't change the accelleration much, but on the motorways its using much less fuel, offset by the big increase in consumption on the twisty windy roads - so the cost ends up about the same. It is happy cruising a bit faster but feels a bit more driveable... 1st is useable again now too

Its performed well, apart from an Alternator failure in the wilds of North Wales (£180 + for a new one from the factors round here) but thank to JR71 I got a later Bosch one from a breakers for £50 - and I fitted it outside his house (with some botched wiring, which I need to fix properly!)

I have also had some good news about it...

Whoopee! Time to go to the "Big Smoke" - prehaps I need to go in convoy with Tim?
