Hello Bez. First of, what size are the wheels? are they the 15's or 16'.
Is there any clearance problems? Did you need spacers?
I want to use those wheels on my next van but band them. I'm still wondering about tyre size though.
Secondly whats the engine spec?
When funds allow I'm going to pickup a decent swb smiley, Lower it, mk6 wide steels, paint, trim and uprated engine.
Then my 190 will be on its way.

There 16" 6 1/2j ones.you need to counter sink the bolts that holds the disk.banding is next when I get time to take them over.I run 205 45 16.
Engine spec at moment is metering pin removed govener shimed big cooler volvo 2.5td turbo on custom manifold.super small exhaust exits just in front of tank.10 psi of boost up to yet need some 100 bhp injectors next and up boost more, just hitting 350 on exhaust temp
if in doubt flat out!

Was it a turbo from the start or have you put a turbo engine in it? is it a banana with a turbo bolted to it? Why do you have to countersink the bolts holding the disks.
I dont really understand the engine spec, can you go into more detail about the engine work in laymens terms.

No its just a 70 bhp that I turboed you can start off with a turbo engine but there's not that much diffrence in the 2.the wheels won't sit right if you don't sink them it holds wheel off
if in doubt flat out!

Nice one Bez, what is the differance between a turbo di and a normal banana? is the compression ratio the same?
Is there any reliability problems with slapping a turbo on a di, fancy this idea meself.
Does the fuel consumption get better or worse?
Cheers mate you've really given me something to think about. I'm gonna bookmark this thread and keep an eye on it.
Would love some more pics of it to get the ideas flowing would it be alright to message you in the future if I do decide to turbo my next van?
Oh yeah, how does it drive? I've never driven a transit turbo. plenty of other stuff, including sprinters which I wouldn't have if you gave me one.
Do you really notice the differance?
Any way again cheers mate

Many people on here do it and have done it me included.
Fuel consumption - if you drive sensibly then I find it higher
Reliability - not had a problem can be slightly harder to start in the cold I find
Compression - someone else will need to answer
Difference is the bannana manifold goes allowing turbo manifold to be added, exhaust manifold is different as you need the exhaust gasses to spin the turbo, you can use the standard air box, exhaust down pipe is slightly different aswell.

Difference? Yes huge, I now race the little chavs from the lights and normally win! Much quieter to drive, pulls on hills, more enjoyable drive!!
