Lately I was testing the parts I bought for my solar-system. Works fine and now needs to be installed on the roof. As the wiring was "planned" after the interiour was finished, I have to find ways for the cables now. Not so easy to use the drilling machine in 45° when you would want it at 90° to the wood to create a nice hole.. Also I needed something nice looking to hold the cables. I went for a copper pipe.

Right now I am working on the electric system. It is possible now to load the second batterie from the alternator, I got a big additional cable now. Nearly no loss of Volts. I am getting forward with the solar-system as well. Also I am planning to install XT90 battery connectors for high amp connections. For example I will use a modified 12V cordless screwdriver and my compressor cooler. Now some pics for you:

I found the cigarette lighter socket quite poor and searched for a better solution. One other option, especially for a lot more amps are UPS plugs, which are also used in offroad-vehicles. For me they would be overkill.

For those who are interested:

They do exist with rating more than 150A. Disadvantage in any case: there doesn't exist any panel jack, so it has to be build by myself.
So how about those XT90 connectors, do you like them? What are you guys using to distribute power in the van?

Ah ok, anyway too big for my setup. But they are good for winches etc.
Today not much going on, as I decided to hang out a bit in the van :)

Those days I got some new upholstery, nearly professionally done but not completely finished yet. Till now they do look absolutely great! Pics will follow.
Today I continued with the solar-wireing and decided to go for a cheap IP65 outdoor cable-housing. There do exist special bushings for solar-cables, but they are too expensive and not variable in my opinion.
So here are the pics:

As I am having a tire-problem right now, I opened another thread. So if any of you knows about tires, would be nice to get some help :)

I just installed my solar-panel finally, seems to work fine! Today and this week I am test-charging so see how it performs.

Some more pics of my solar-roof and finally the nearly finished seat-covers. They are ok for use, but need some little rework (that I'm too lazy to do now) needs to be done as the zippers are not completely closed.

Changed the windscreen-washer to universal windscreen washer jets that are fitted directly to the wiper, like the Mercedes Sprinters have. In combination with oversized Bosch Aerotwins a really perfect improvement! Feels nearly like in an actual new car! Pics will follow.

Just a short info:
Those washers + pipes that I got from ebay are 4mm, but the original pipes have a larger diameter (I guess 5mm or 6mm). Some fluid on the washer or the inside of the pipe and a lightner to heat the pipe helped and made the install very easy. :)
Additional upgrade that would make sense: A return-valve! Without, the water goes back down the pipe. So now it takes some 1-2 seconds to fill the pipe before there is water on the windscreen. But doesn't bother me at all.

Thanks :)
Btw, in fact it is maybe a good idea to let the water go back the pipe after using. In winter it might freeze due to cold wind, if it stays in the pipes.
