I only did 50 miles in it before I had it done. I'm getting 33 at the moment. I could get more if I was more careful...

I got mine from MVS. Do you live in Sheffield. Looks good btw, keep up the good work.

I'm in Aberystwyth in mid Wales so it was a bit of a trek to Sheffield but they seemed to prep them better than other places so it was worth it. I'd thought of putting a sport kit on like yours but I can't justify the money at the moment. I'm intending to make everything removable in the back so I can still use it as a van if I need to.

didn't realize you were that close i'm in ffoss-y-ffin :)

Hi,

I hope you don't mind me asking.. how much did the diff ratio change cost you in Halifax? I've just picked up a RAC mk7 recently and I'm considering altering the ratio.

All the work so far is looking good!

Cheers

Update on my mpg since diff change alz,

Did 200 from home to Norfolk on Friday, got 42.1 MPG :!: (As opposed to about 29/30 before)

Got 39.5 on return trip today, but I did have engine running for quite a time while I fiddled with Sat Nav.

:D

Bad news is that I now have the "malfunction" light on :(

Will have to try and get codes tomorrow......

That's really good.... Mine rarely gets warm enough to test the mpg properly but it's doing 32-33 on my 7 mile trip to work. Once the rear is fitted out I'll take it for a good run....

Busyish weekend on the van. Had my assistants busy. Just need to teach them how to use some power tools now !

Had to add a piece at the top of the window as my limited carpentry skills measured/cut it wrong. It actually breaks up the wall quite well so I'm not too gutted.

Are you going to do the roof too Mate :?:

I've put celotex 25 mm up in mine between the reinforcing strips, but I'm not sure what to put around those strips as they still drip condensation :?

Looks like you've used some silvery bubble stuff behind your fibre insulation :?:

Just a quick question. Since you've changed the diff have you used the van for towing if so is it much worse? I want to change mine but i use it to tow a car on a trailer. It pulls like a train at the minute but seems to use a lot of fuel.

I've got a 16ft Brian James a-max to move my rally car. I've used the van to tow that with a diesel Mondeo on and it was no bother really. The only time you'll run into difficulty is 1st and reverse. I had a mk2 golf on it and had to pull off on quite a steep hill it wasn't too happy about. It did it ok but I wouldn't want to be doing it all the time. I don't tow that much tbh so it's a compromise worth making to save fuel. If you did it and decided you didn't like it you could always convert it to a 6 speed. They're 1st is lower I think but 6th is about the same as 5th. I'm getting 33 ish but I'm only doing 6 mile trips so it's barely getting warm.... Not sure where you are (most likely nowhere near me!) but if you wanted to try mine you're more than welcome.

Tbh It's only once a month i use it to tow with but although it's my daily i don't use it every day cause i live in a truck all week. I live about 5 minutes away from where you bought your van so fairly flat. I'll look in to getting a diff i think. Cheers for that.
