Yessum, same as the MK7. The Osram LEDriving is designed as a direct replacement for it.

How does the cornering nonsense connect up? To existing wiring?

You can connect to the indicators, but a better solution on the Custom is to connect to the oem cornering light wires.

The standard stereo has always been lacking compared to what I listen to at home, but I've been happy with it until now. Anyway a visit to the local in car guru's resulted in a plan and a few purchases.

A set of JL components, to be run actively from the 2 channel amp, with the Bit Ten doing the x-over and TA duties.

Image

Adaptors (thanks Tran59)

Image

Audison Bit Ten and JL 4 channel amp

Image

And a lead to avoid any cutting of the standard loom, this will allow me to take the speaker output from the HU to the high-level inputs of the Bit Ten

Image

Also a load of Dynamat for the doors

Sub to be decided on but it's unlikely that it'll be anything big, unlike young Meghan Trainor, I don't think that it's 'All about that bass', sound quality is the most important thing. But I'm not going as mad as the crazy MK7 build of 2010!

Speaker wire colours from the rear of the cd player,

Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): White/Brown
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Violet
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): White/Orange

At the speaker end they're marked with paint, the LHS is marked with green (LF +) and yellow (LF -)

So time for the standard speakers to go

Image
Stuck a bit of Dynamat in the doors and an adaptor

Image

Stuck the JL Audio mids in

Image

Took out the stander tweeter

Image

Which seems to take a full range feed from the head unit and filter out the lower frequencies with a capacitor

Image

The JL tweeter is a little smaller than the Ford one, so it pops in nicely.

Image

A couple of blobs of hot glue stops it moving

Image

Tucked the tweeter wires out of the way
Image

So I've taken the wires from the head unit and routed them to under the passenger seat, two pairs of wires go back to the dash, mids and tweeters. I've fitted the JL x-over for now, hoping the get the Audison Bit Ten and JL amp fitted soon.

did you get the kit finally fitted yet? Im still designing mine. Latest thoughts are

bit ten
focal 2 channel amp
cdt hd62's
focal 1 channel amp
12" type r sub under the seat.

I decided not to cut the door panels yet as I cant find a spare pair to butcher. Looks like the es06's are going to stay out for now
