mrks 2 restoration

thought i would start a new thread here of my progress off the restoration this van will be a show van when completed :D

so here is the intro thread

so today was cutting the floor out and the rotten metal i had to leave so metal for shaping purposes but did grind back to clean metal before hand

so here goes

Actually it don't look as bad as I was expecting after seeing the rear chassis :shock: but the floor and the chassis beneath it look quite solid (at least what we can see does)
Stick with it young Karl it'll be a good'n when its done :!: :)

i done some more today welding the inner arches up manage to do it in two plates so weather was hot :lol: so left welding and the sun dont mix :lol:

pictures to follow :D

also tracked down transit mrk 2 in the scrappies from what i remember the from panels were in good nick

even folded the centre for strength

then today was patching the inner wing then fabricating/ making the bonnet hing mount (1side) which iam very chuffed about as never done anything like this before an id turned out great :D :D

then started the other side as i need sills steps etc to finish the sides of then they will be done :D

a just get stuck in to it

like i have said it looks worse then it actually is the back is the worse part but am not interested in that yet i want the cab/floor front done for winter :D including doors repaired fitted and at least a few coats of primer on it as well :D

the thing is here as well am learning all the time and asking should i or don't i cut that out am challenging myself doing it

also the thing am finding is plating over shite in the first place ,this is the reason it has this problem in the first place and the old plating has never see a coat of paint :( :lol:

Good for you, for taking it on. 8) These resto's can be a long, hard road, but if you take it one section at a time, it becomes less daunting. As Mrs PDQ says, "Just keep pecking at it, and you'll get there". :D

Cheers Andy I have done a load more on the other side I have picture I need to up load them later :D it time consuming cutting and shaping the new steel to fit right but made big progress of the other side :D

Am having a little break tomorrow got to go and look at a 308 pug in burnley then a diesal leak on a tractor at the yard
