We redrilled floors to for the (mk 5) set in puk. The passengers were easy as they are usually on mountings, drivers needs a box to sit on, took some time to find one with an original base. DHT could easily fit (sorry to volunteer you Tim Mate )

Also, Baz has a low mileage Pinto engine. I found a bottle of additive in the van which would suggest it hasn't been modified to run on unleaded. I obviously want to keep the engine, what is the best way forward?

I am sure I read on here that some of the later 202/205 heads are unleaded, I am sure I remember the post saying that there were letters cast into the head to identify them.

I have a couple of later 202/205 heads in stock, if a fellow member could clarify the identification markings, I could sort a head out for you while Baz is with us.

I am sure I read on here that some of the later 202/205 heads are unleaded, I am sure I remember the post saying that there were letters cast into the head to identify them.

I have a couple of later 202/205 heads in stock, if a fellow member could clarify the identification markings, I could sort a head out for you while Baz is with us.

Haynes manual for 86-89 petrol has:
1.6 litre. A, K, M or MM
2.0 litre. A, L, P or PP
This is stamped on the cylinder head adjacent to No. 4 spark plug.

Colin you could get a cable made.Try Cablecraft.ie.I have used them loads of times and very reasonable and they may have a branch over your side.

If you want a "factory" unleaded head you will probably have to find an "Injection" head but they fetch "daft money" £100 plus but you can have your head "converted" to run on unleaded (just involves having the exhaust valve seats machined out and replaced with harder (much harder) seats Expect to pay £20 per seat (plus vat) and for another £100 get a new set of valve guides fitted so a totally revamped head that runs unleaded fuel for £200 if you really want to go to town on it a new set of valves (8) are only about £40 and a new camshaft kit @ around £70 and your all brand new again ( A fully rebuilt "Full" pinto 2ltr engine ready to drop in can set you back about a Grand these days )
