I know the foglights are must have. Both Mk5 and Mk6 get at least +10 to coolness with them :)

I got the original brand new lights switch at a reasonable price... however still haven't checked if I have the wires in place already ;)

In place for fog lights I have mounted DRL (LED) lights. Did you think about DRL?
In my opinion, in continental climate in middle Europe DRL front fog lights are needed one - two times a year only... Maybe in UK in Atlantic climate front fog lights are more helpful.
Much more useful are DRL lihts - if they are, head lights will stay in good condition per long time (not yellow sediment on glass, not matt reflector).

In Transit Mk6 main rotary light switch works also for fog lights - in definite order. In standard it is possible to switch on only back fog lights, for front fog lights it is necessity to replace switch for right one (with one more position).

Yes, I know in our climate it is more reasonable to add DRL lights. For me it is more about the look than functionality - I simply like how the fog lights play with the rest of the front end.

As for now I've got another challenge. Cannot find right sliding doors which will be dent-free. The van is at the body workshop now and sliding doors needs a lot of filler or to be replaced.
Replacement is the way to go but it's hard to get L1H1 118cm doors in decent condition here in Poland. Tomorrow another try, however the price is 250EUR. Greedy seller.

Hah. The work has started so here we go.

There is some rust. It was visible from the chassis frame side as well. To be cut off and welded.

Image

Rear - some mud, but rust free. Yay! :)

Image

Left side - rust free. ! :)

Image

The annoying small dent on left rear wheel arch is no more.

Image

Sliding doors found - in the same colour as the van. Some filler and it's OK.

Image

Front is rust free:

And the chassis passenger side - rust easy to clean. Will be OK for next couple of years!

I hope within next 10 days the van will be finished and I will be able to take care of the interior and extras :)

Did you remove the rear vent and grommit behind the rear bumper sides as get them from a mk7 and it keeps water out. You can see mines rotten out

It might be a little bit too expensive to get them from GB, but I have found them already in Warsaw :)

Today It was a wash time - just to get the mud and sand off to see clearly what needs cleaning and welding.

Over the rear axle definitely to be cut off and new piece is to be welded in.

And there is the loom for front fog lights. At least it looks like the plugs are there.

Yeah, I know it is not perfect but as for now I cannot afford ripping off the original underseal. I can clean what is visible and fill all holes with APP stuff. I hope it will last for 4-5 years.

I'm not using my vans day-to-day, never in winter time. The Mk5 is used to move LEGO models from display to display, the Mk6 Euroline is to be a vacation-time van. Both will get a new 35 sq metes all-season home soon, I hope :)

Ok, so the work is in progres. Sliding doors almost ready for painting, bonnet also reviewed and all scratches murdered :)
Minor corrections on wheel arches. The end is closer and closer.

Last but not least - the stuff is coming :)

Question of the day: should I paint bumpers in the color of the body?

I really cannot decide. Bumpers have some scratches here and there and they lost the color.
I think painted might be cool, what do you think?

Thank you all for valuable comments storm :) The decision is made - front and rear bumpers will be painted.
Side plastic stripes (what is the proper name for tchem in English?) will be left black/dark gray as they were.

Holes in bumper made for front fog lights.

The van is ready to get into spay booth.

I need to order Ford decals. Have to check also if Westfalia is sellig their stickers or the only way is to make custom ones. I even have no idea if originally the Euroline stripes were painted or not. On my van these weren't original ones as the previous owner re-painted the van couple of years ago.
