arf33's Tourneo Custom LWB 155hp MY2013

Postby arf33 » Sun Jan 10, 2016 6:18 pm

Hi to all,

here I will post my Tourneo Custom updating pictures and descriptions but first some story:
I own it from begininning of December 2015, bought used with 96k km, it's a MY2013, black panther, LWB, 16" alloys, leather seats, Navi, RH and LH rear sliding doors, 155hp...

In my life I modified (and I still do) everything and no exception for the Tourneo :D
obviously the mods will match the vehicle style and my personal taste/needs. So I decided to start with a few simple upgrades like LED lighting, soundproofing, doors speakers, small wrapping.... but I've already in mind how to proceed for the future with more big jobs I like.

how was when bought:

first little job done the 10th December...headlight bulbs upgrade.

I've only changed:
- parking light with LED ones (T10 bulb)
- main beam (H7 bulb)
- cornering light (H1 bulb)

the aftermarked bulbs I've used for

the T10 LED bulb

RH headlight already upgradated, LH standard, just to note that the color temps is much better but the brightness is poor, I will change the main beam for HID

last upgrades of this weekend:

Mirrors Covers Wrapping in Silver

Removing of the passenger's OEM steps

Soundproofing of the door and changing of the OEM woofer.
I decided to use a soundproofing mats I find in a DIY shop and suitable for drywall, anyway it's a compound of EPDM rubber and minerals, no smell, no vapor, self adhesive. one roll 0.6m x 2m cost 25€, I bought 2pcs.
here the TDS: http://www.mappyitalia.com/siti/sito_we ... _33982.pdf
For the speaker set I choice a 2 way Focal R 165 S2 plus 2 ford focus/c-max adaptors for 165mm.

saturday and sunday I finalize the speakers upgrade by installing the Focal tweeters and crossovers.

I decided to cut the OEM loom just behind the radio, so one cable go from the radio to the crossover and the other came back from the crossover to the OEM loom toward door speakers.
For the tweeters I just routed new cables to the pillars.

another small upgrade to the front grille... I called this job "ford titanium family feeling"

why ? because almost of the titanium (maybe Limited in UK ?) version of ford cars use to have a chrome grill frame and small chrome trims inside...I repeat...small ! Not big as usually we can see on the web for custom model...I think that type will only make worse the front.

the family of ford titanium front

and the following is what is easy to find and buy on the web... my taste: I hate it

so...this is my personal titanium style mod:

yesterday I modified the position of the H7 HID bulb in order to have the external connection upside down and minimize the shade caused from.

the tool I used for:

sheet metal scissors

Image

profile copier

Image

the bulb

Image

Image

then in the night I did some test, 1st the shading is not longer an issue...that's good and expected

but...now I see 2 other issues, one is the dark on left and right corners and...the gap between the right and left beam.
about the beam I will try to check better the bulb seating and/or the headlamp installation on the van... but I have no idea how to minimize the dark corners...mumble mumble...

Hi all...

I'm sorry 'cause I was disappear on latest months... spring is always a motorbike full immersion season for me, so I didn't worked on the Tourneo.

but this august we planned an european tour with the van... and so for that I restart to do something:

1st. tomorrow I leave the van at the local ford dealer to update ECU software (as suggested here), buy the new updated navi-SD-Card, change rear pads...and general check.

2nd. yesterday I tried to solve the rattling problem of the rear sliding doors, I think is a good solution but I can say 100% if works or not next weekend (we go out for a weekend, so highway).
I used just 2 simple "Silent Block M6".
here some pics:
Image
Image
Image
Image

3rd. I started the installation of an internal push button to open the tailgate, in this way, in case of rain during camping, we can open this door from inside...then open the umbrella and go. pictures on next days

4th. I will go ahead with sound profing of the rear doors

5th. I'm designing the wooden bed and the kitchen module...it's like a tetris because we want to carry the bikes inside the van

many other small things...like curtains self made...dvd monito support, hood bra, etc etc

bye bye

yesterday I did 2 jobs

1- refurbishing of the tailgate door panel, some of the plastic support for clips were detached, the bonding system is "mechanical" because the supports are made in PP (polypropilene) that is a difficult plastic to be bonded...I used the same filosophy but using an epoxy glue instead the original style with hot melting glue (those small things make the difference between german constructor and other brand...less money = less accuracy in everythings).

the epoxy glue I used for
Image

the original bonding

Image

now just the time and the usage can say if I did a good choice or not...I feel that cannot be worse than the "original turkish ford style"

2- installation of an internal push button to open the tailgate from inside (useful for camping purpose)

the button in position (I drilled a Ø12mm hole)
Image
Image

the new wires soldered to the OEM ones in parallel
Image

the door panel modification
Image
Image

the final result...I'm satisfied (it works well, as expected) !

bye bye
