Yes I hear my turbo spooling as its quite close (so to speak) to the firewall/windscreen, its about the only thing on my van that sound right. N
Massey Ferguson Ned If it aint red leave it in the shed Any picturesnedforceone wrote:Euro3, euro5, and everything in-between, I was actually just saying you can hear it more cos its FWD and the turbo is kinda like right under the windscreen Init guvnor, I could hear the turbo spooling up on the Ferguson Massey tractor down on't farm today (think its a Ferguson Massey could be wrong) it sounded like hell breaking loose N

loot wrote:Well i took it for a run this am, as expected the knocking was loud and clear, it is at about 3rd throttle 1900rpm you have to tease it until the knocking becomes prominent and gets louder, you can Rev through it if you floor the engine but it still can be heard just that the engine sounds rough too like all fwd.
I got halfway there about 15 min 6 miles in traffic and all of a sudden i thought the engine was teleported out of the front, i couldn't hear a bean, nothing, i revved it and nursed it but i honestly heard fook all except tyres on the road and the faintest hum from the front. Got to the dentist was in there 15 min and jumped on and drove home, engine still quiet toll halfway home then i could nurse the knocking back if i drove super carefully, it was there but nearly not there just a slow knock knock knock at the above revs.
Not too sure what the tech did but he said a pilot learn (blown if i know where that is but I'll investigate when i get back on ids )
The oil i put in the van was from quicko, castrol magnatec with Ford logos on it, does anyone know if the first oil in the transit is special in that it keeps the parts lubricated and me replacing it was why it is noisy? (Straws)
I think the only way to get to the sound is in gear driving and a load on the wheels, only idea i have is somewhere where they have a rolling road, strap it down and use a scope to listen to the knock, it is a single knock which means 1 injector or 1 rocker etc.
Could even be a poor fuel map in the pcm
