Mk7 LWB high roof work van

Postby sc_BK » Mon Mar 27, 2017 11:02 pm

Bought this in January to replace my ageing (and rusting :( ) mk6 that I have had for over 8 years

2009 Mk7 LWB High roof RWD 2.4 115ps

Previously owned by a concrete cutting company so as minging as you'd expect

I've been slowly working on it as and when I get the time, and of course you keep finding things wrong with it. Ended up needing a set of new injectors :|

As you can see someone had very kindly swapped the rear lights to mk6 ones. And the horn was completely missing. And the batteries (original) were knackered. And only one half of strobe beacon on the roof worked. And there was a few bulbs blown etc etc etc

LED combo lightbar, flood and spot, what a beast, lights up everything!!

Wired via a relay off high beam, totally covers over the normal high beam, you may as well have your headlights turned off lol 8)

The only slight issues is you sometimes get FM interference when it's turned on, have just fitted some ferrite filters, so will see if that helps

Last photo for now, ply lining going back in at the weekend. Some new ply, some re-used. Not doing it as high this time as I want to use the pockets up the top for storing all my bits n bobs in :P

Also insulated above the cab shelf so I can store jackets etc up there without it raining condensation on them

Cheers, they left behind a hard hat with ear defenders and head torch!! Caked in cement dust though lol :P

No it's a 3.73 axle. So you barely need 6th gear!!

I bought a Vision Alert "evolution" lightbar off ebay for £100, this is what it looked like on the listing

They're off ATS Euromaster vans.

Polished up the lenses, stuck white vinyl over the centre section, and new wiring. They already had rear lights inside but I took them out and changed them for a pair of trailer LED stop/tail/indicator. It also had LED strobes inside, but I knackered the control box for them  so bought a cheap set of self contained LED strobe lights (that look very similar!) off ebay and made up some new brackets.

Halogen rotators and LED strobes:

That's the ply lining about finished, will maybe paint it at some point to smarten it up

I built a compartment behind the seats, I find something similar works well for me on the old van. Loads of space for storing kit, and room for heavier tools on the floor underneath, accessible from the side door

Wired up the main worklights by the ligthbar, 18w LED

Also fitted four of these little 10w LED worklamps above the side and rear doors. They're great sturdy little lights, I've also got them fitted on a piece of machinery
