Hi Paul

Gutted for your loss, after all effort you made in to that Transit  Is there any chance that you might do another one or have you quitted doing these conversions?

I noticed that "Transit bible" topic is removed, there was SO much information and now its all gone! I am personally after wiring diagrams (and some other people too...), adding A/C afterwards and of course, all info which is needed doing front end conversion 8)

Is it possible for you make some sort of "bible" in to Technical how to - section, to help all others who are in need of this help. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your van mate. Living in East London; car/van theft is a big deal. I think nowadays they use CRACKHEADS to take these cars/vans. I mean even if they were caught, they are crackheads; in this instance it is hard to hold anyone accountable. I thought out of London it was much less of a problem to be honest. Just wondering do you guys use steering locks? I've used my disklok steering lock for years and yes they aren't a 100% deterrent, but I'm sure it puts thiefs off at least 70/80% which may just be enough for them to roll on.

This is not as big a deal, but it was only a couple of years ago my Jumbo MK7 2.4 had the alternator stolen from underneath the van. The factory cat 1 alarm didn't even go off. I didn't even know until I got into the van and tried to start it and nothing. I opened the bonnet and saw the drive belt was loose and was wondering how the hell that happened. Then I looked further and realised that the alternator had been undone from underneath the van, the bottom two bolts had also been nicked, but the top bolt was left on top of the chassis. Worst thing was the main positive cable had been cut along with the plug connector. So I had to redo part of the loom.

Again very sorry to hear about your van. Plus about the ANPR that someone mentioned earlier if these gangs use crackheads they will just rip the plates off and drive without plates because a lot of them just don't give a damn.

Just because I mentioned the factory alarm didn't go off in my MK7 Jumbo 2010; I was thinking it didn't go off because there are no sensors under the front of the van and bonnet wasn't opened so it was probably quite easy for whoever it was to undo the alternator with the ridiculous amount of space underneath it without making too much noise.

Anyway a friend of mine mentioned that he hangs a few bits of paper off the wing mirror and the handles off the ceiling so that if any slight vibration occurs, the feather light paper would definitely move inside the van that would make the interior sensors go off. Just a thought.

Bloody hell really need to think a bit more before I click submit, but I know most vans don't have a rear view mirror, plus the sensors are in front of the rear view mirror; therefore you would probably have to hang something that is very light that moves with little vibration anywhere forward of the sensors possibly. Perhaps just in front of the bulkhead from the headlining bang in the middle of that area. Same location even if you don't have a bulkhead...

I will be doing something again at some point. Never get bored of it, I do like a challenge.

Recently picked up this Jaguar X-Type V6 manual (LPG Converted) with the Idea of breaking it up & sqeezing the engine into a Transit Connect. :P

Unfortunately around here Connects are still holding their value. Even non runners are still selling for £1k plus :?

Isn't the jag v6 same as the v6 in the Mondeo?

£1k for a non runner connect is crazy, what sort of year connects you looking at?
