Euro 4 tourneo

Postby loot » Sun Feb 11, 2024 3:22 pm

I've come to it today, takes a bit to start then sounds a bit rough but ok i put the oil cap on but then noticed the oil coming from the dipstick. Read that it is likely rings etc. Lad I bought it from says head gasket.there's remnants of oil in the expansion bottle but it's isn't thick it's like droplets, you can still see pink coolant .

I would like to repair the engine so I can sell it.

Only got 139k on it 2012 plate

I know the injector seals and oil cooler need checking but the oil coming from the dipstick can anyone say if they are certain of it being a knackered engine cheers

Isn’t the 2012 a E5? If so didn’t they suffer with oil pumps, might be blocked causing the sump to presurise, just a thought,

No it's a very late 2011 euro 4. 115ps non electronic turbo.

Never seen oil coming from the dipstick but when I got to it the oil cap was off so I presume that stops the oil coming up the dipstick so the engine crankcase is pressurising. Less likely to be the head gasket, it doesn't smoke that much so I'm not thinking pistons yet, there's a good dollop of fresh oil on the 4 injectors.

Could be oil pump,i believe these work back to front and as it is on volume not pressure there's a relief valve that lowers the oil flow/pressure,I've read that these can block as you say. It has the 6 speed box, a good clean engine and box should fetch 500 quid. But I don't plan on rebuilding it as it'll cost more than that lol

Yes, very comfy too. Come with a stress ball to pump them up with

But they're not fitting my plans so I might sell the interior. There's 9 seats

Hmmmm, now you have me thinking, be a shame to split them up but if you do decide to sell them I maybe interested in the front seats as my drivers seat is crippling me.

So when are you buying another silver van   think Matts got a broken one he’s fed up with albeit white not silver.

I have 3 now  need to box them off as quick as I can. But also sell Asbo and bits of this 1 and get forskin finished plus purchase price, I'm hoping to be left with the van i want and the same money is level.
So
Forskin 1300
Tourneo 1100
Plus things I've bought and money I'll save on parks from this 1 etc.

Alloys got to be worth 250 straight away. Lot of maths involved but prices will be more than fair.

You might have a problem in the drivers seat of falling asleep  the seat in asbo is ok but feels a bit like a fat person has moulded it to them so it's a bit loose shall we say

I'd be straight into injector seals, cheapest easiest thing and classic for pressuring crankcase,
If not that then holed piston or possibly head gasket or cracked head.
But heads not common for cracking, head gaskets more common for blowing between cylinders than to crank case/water jacket/ externally.

Strange, expansion bottle isn't gloop but does have black in it from blobs.

Oil level clean and ok but after putting the cap back on and it coming out the dip the oil is halfway on the dip.

I took the cap off and it is chuffing like the mallard, I pulled the small pipe going to the turbo at the rocker cover, pcv and I then put my hand on the filler to block it but I only felt a small amount of blow from the pcv outlet, is it filtered and should it blow out hard similar to the oil filler.?

I will do a pressure check if the cylinders and I will replace the copper washers etc.

Not convinced it is fubar yet.

Side note.

It is fairly solid and 138k miles and alloys etc.

I think it could be worth 5k with 12 month mot and really cleaned up. :?

Option 1, split it into tiny pieces and get my moneys worth,
Option 2 tidy it fix engine and sell. It'll pay for my forskin and some.

Try again

Do it up and sell? It's quite good nick and low mileage so I don't think I could get that amount of money stripping it

I'd be inclined to do injector seals and then make a decision.
But selling complete would be the ideal.

Rocker over has a mesh oil condensing "filter" more of a strainer to give the oil something to stick to on the way past.
It will have less blowby than the filler even when new just down to the simple path of least resistance factor.
If you've got the injectors out you can try and rinse it out, I tried it with a little fuel transfer pump I've got and a load of old petrol flushing through a Euro5 one that was blocked but it took me a couple of hours to get it to a satisfactory level.
A new rocker cover was not much more in the terms of cost compared to labour.

I hoped that the resistance would be negligeable compared to what it currently is and the turbo intake also helping to suck it too ,it feels like a gentle blow compared to the oil filler chuff.
Seems too simple to be a case of just the copper washers but I'm probably over assuming

I'm going to swap the rocker with asbo and see. I've got spare washers etc. Also do the learns etc. It takes a bit of turning over to get going
