I never heard of the carbon canister, and the later diesels have the EGR, but they are not fitted to the Mk2 as the exhaust manifold is different.

hey dean whats the compliance plate details on your van

I can run normal car tyres as thats what came on the sundowners

But all you need is tyres that meet or exceed the load rating of your van

Also when you do the rocker cover make sure to clean it real well where the gasket fits then give it and the head a wipe over with thinners then glue the gasket to the cover with some quick dry super glue and make sure the covers not bent around the bolt holes
Yeah i know its big green and rusty so move your Porsche before i bash it with 460 cubes of fords finest cast iron

cool, i'll have to check the compliance plate for details,
the rocker cover i just slapped on pretty much, as i plan to swap the motor unless i get the head recod? suspect a burned valve in the cast iron one, i have a good XF motor to fit, just need to find a single barrel manifold to suit the alloy head. webber manifold looks too wide?

good idea, i'd buy some second handys if i come across them,

it might go into hibernation for a few months, got a lot of tidying up to do before i start with this project.

Guess what, 12 months later and the progress has been unbelievable....
absolutley nothing lol.

Got a cortina ghia cluster for it though, will need some tips on fitting i guess(tempted to hard wire it in, to eleiminate the dodgy tape connection anyway)

and i think i'll be finding time to get stuck into it now.
i did some measuring and i think the XE/XF engine with webber 2 barrel carby will fit? will be tight, air filter setup will a LPGas horn with Impco 300A mixer if so. i have a Impco Model E gas converter which is super overkill but should work fine with it.

was going to be a bit stingy, but in the quest for trouble free super reliability i will fit a new commercial spec clutch kit, regardless.

i am also considering adding another LPgas tank inside the van longways behind the driver seat, as this will be a touring camper. and long range at cheap prices is the goal.

i'll post more pics up as i do things.
at this stage, i am wondering if i can fit an XF falcon steering column complete and adapt it to the steering box thats there? look into when the engine bay is in bits i think.

well, i decided to have a look into this cluster setup and blinker switch.

the cluster looks easy to mount, just got to file down the mountings a little with the dremel mini grinder.

i havent got the cortina loom section, i may just hard wire it in. never trusted those ribbon connectors anyway.
i have an XC falcon speedo cable thats a close fit, may be able to mod it to fit the corty cluster(just needs a way to keep it reatained, maybe a circlip setup? the clips are in a different location)

had a look at the Vent area for a spot to mount a stereo within reach, may make a plywood house for it on the top of the dash and cover it with vinyl.

the steering column and switches have been butchered a bit, i dont like the design anyway.
may see if i can source another. otherwise i am going to go a bit custom.
not sure how it fits the steering box, otherwise i'd consider fitting an XF falcon column whole.

will be getting more prohress here and there now as the weather really good for it.

some pics below may help tell the story

Hey dean you dont need to mod your cluster to fit the transit (at least i didnt) and i used a cortina speedo cable

If you can get the corty loom i have a wiring diagram to connect them together, you will need to run a wire to the coil for the tach aswel
