did you not get the phase 2 dash over there :?: it has the stero in that position as standard :D still pritty basic tho and a vinyl covered one will look smarter 8)

well My van had a pice of plywood there anyway with home made speaker mounting, so it may have had something there once.
the trouble is, these vans are nearly 30 years old and with so many owners over the years they get modified and butchered over and over.

i rarely ever see any transits of this shape on the road.

Got that pm mate

I'll scan it and pass it on

No progress on my van, a mate is making a mold of my front air dam so i can have it remade if it ever gets smashed

Luke the stereo wont go in all the way in the aussie vans as the heater box gets in the way

so this time next week i should be getting it in for a RWC, then the motor will come out and an alloy head 250 will be going in.
and whatever is needed for Rwc will be fixed providing its not overly expensive to repair.

had someone photoshop some 12 slotter on, lol they are a bit big so i stuck a set on the left side, looks ok, but there has to be a better looking combo.

12 slotters are the best rim for an earlier transit..........like these...

i still have the 12 slotters, but seeing i am looking at a allterain tyre in a light truck rating, it will probably be 15" wheels, and probably one that is comon and easy to source cheap.

thanks for the pic, looks good in Blue.

12 slots are cheap and easy to get.why not just get the rwc with borowed rubber then run decent radials?.my tyres are technicaly illegal but the old mk1 drives much nicer.you have a great van and the slotters look good on it

i'll worry about wheels and tyres later,
the van has to go everywhere, and will be carrying a reasonable load of gear as a camper.

my biggest concern at the moment is getting it RWC and registred.
preffereably for january .

i have a few sets of 12 slotters here, including an 8" wide deep dish pair. i dont need any more. plus you are in QLD.
does a standard falcon diff fit in a transit ok, the one in it has been extended on the left axel( i beleve it runs 2 long axels)

i was considering getting an EB falcon 3.23LSD ratio diff with discs for it exept for the width.

Gday
nothing new yet,
just thought i'd post pics of the diff mods from the ford falcon. you can see it has a leaky axel seal by the oil over the tyre. bodgy job on the diff perhaps?

A falcon diff is a bit short go for an f100 diff , it looks like someone just extended the left housing on your diff to fit the long axle, best way is to put whole R/H tube in. I stuck an xa ute diff in my mk1 and had to put 10" wheels on just to fill the wheel arches

well. took a long time to get around to sorcing the hardest part of this RWC list..

the steering box in My van is sloppy, and the column had been butchered including the steering wheel and indicator stalk etc...

so i found one at pick a part a month ago, but hadnt found time to go back and remove it.

i was fortunate to bring all the tools needed to do the Job easy, including the pitman arm puller.
ended up sitting in the van for 5 to 10 mins while it was raining too.
i got the bonnet off it also, and a Home made Heavy Bumper that i will mod further later.
the rest of the project i have pretty much exept i want to fit a FULL engingine gasket set to the motor i plan to fit.

so i will soon be doing some more work here.

i also picked up a cortina speedo cable and cluster plugs to splice into the transit loom. need to get Sundowner to find the wiring side of things for the cluster one day soon too.

so i think i have all the parts i need now. so i will get to it eventually.

Well, supprisingly progress has returned. middle of winter even.

fitted a reco motor i got in a Falcon i bought for parts. put a new clutch in and got it mounted up. engine mount to chassis bolts needed some gentle tapping to get in.

painted the whole engine bay in kilrust white gloss, might help visability in there.
fitted the wrecker special steering box, has no slop so its Really good.
got a lot of bits to refit, but over the next few weeks i hope to have it sorted.

found the wheels that are staying too,
EA fairmont ghia wheels, with light truck tyres for the moment for RWC reasons(depends how slippery they are as to wether they stay)
i have 10 of these wheels now, so i might fit some car tyres to a pair for the front at minimum later.
