But if the blue roof was cut 6 inches or so up, couldn't it then be done without taking the rear guttering away? I dont really want to disturb the back gutter...

WOW just spent 2 hours reading this...Dachre you are a STAR

That is an excellent piece of engineering, the stainless work is 2nd to none, and even your questionable woodwork puts many to shame..
Hope the cab bed works as well as you hoped, and the front seats turned out as good as the back ones....

Possibly a few up to date pictures could be posted so we can see how well everything has held up...
:D

Congrats from a well jealous Bezza!!!!

Yep I did spot that's what I meant by not letting me down at the end. Great job

its expensive but doesnt suffer from any moisture problems.

if you call on a building site they throw enough Kingspan away, i mean 8x4 sheets of it, some maybe a little damaged and it comes in a few guages to, but its worth asking a labourer or trades for a few sheets, they may tell you to go help yourself out of the skip...i had loads of stuff while working, just by asking.

Just spent a couple of nights reading this thread on an iphone.
What a fantastic build, I hope you are enjoying using it as much as building it.

Wow, took me 2 evenings to read trough it all.
@dachre you're clearly an RVS master!

What did you do the welding with ? TIG welder?
What weight did you add to the van (eg. are you still allowed to take a passenger when driving ?), that question has bothered my since I saw the frame for the kitchen.

Dacre thats awesome work mate. Inspirational (and slightly demoralising) but an excellent read and you put as much care and time into the detailed postings and pictures as the conversion itself. Thanks.

Hello Dahre

I'm very impressed by your work. Ford Galaxy seats are very good choice for mk5 transit conversion. I have drivers seat fitted, with no problem. I used platform from original seat and a set of four pieces of steel angle, so there wasn't any welding required.
Now I have to get the other side to do. Is it posibble that you could make exactly same platform for passenger side for me, or could you post me list of materials and sizes, so I can take it to local welder, please.
Your help will be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Fazz
