Hi serpen, thanks for the nice comments.

Yes, i've build a few vehicles before. single-multi venue, race/rally cars..etc..

And yes, i can just about go on holiday without sleeping in a van...haha.....

but theres no hotels exactly where i want to go... i like to paint natural unspoilt landscapes.... hence, no houses or hotels...etc.... and it takes me a long time to paint.... sometimes days.....

and of course, the thing about building it yourself is that it doesnt cost much, except for your time... some people like to finish work, go home and watch Eastender-Coranation-Dale farm... (or what ever its called) i like to go down the workshop and hit things with hammers...... and hopefully build things for a lot less than they would of been if i had bought them....

keeps me off the streets.....

Ha ha, mine keeps me on, doing a camper conversion in london space abit of an issue It gets very expensive when you havent got any tools to start with.

Where are you sourcing you parts from? Is it just what you have accumilated before you started or have you got a transit grave yard up the road?
When this baby hits 88 miles per hour were gonna see some serious sh*t!!

Hey Serpen.

Building a camper on the streets of Londaon has got to be my idea of hell.... when i was a kid i had to weld up my Escort on the streets of a council estate. The next day a council official turned up and said if i didnt stop i was going to be evicted from my flat. Aparently some kids who had been watching me had got arc eye and gone screaming to their parents saying that they cant see no more...

ooops....

A workshop helps so much.

Anyway, i dont have a scrapyard... im putting all the bits ive taken off the camper back on Apart from some bits and pieces ive been taking off my old, dead MK3.

I dont really have any plans for the mk3 anymore Intransit. Just picking bits off it before I weigh it in.

Ive just taken the Lucus fuel pump off it as the one on my mk5 was shot and ive just taken the drivers seat runners off it, welded them to my mk5 seat runners to make one long set of runners.

Dont think i need anything else of it.... well, maybe the towbar.....

Your van is coming together nicely Intransit....looking good....

Hi every one... it’s nice to see so much stuff done to other peoples transits on the forum especially that the good weather is here... so I thought id post what I’ve been getting up to on my camper.

I’ve been making the seat supports that will allow MK1 Ford Galaxy seats into the camper. These are the photos I’ve taken from the trial fit.

This is the drivers side.
Image

The driver’s side was the most complicated as the seat had to be able to slide backwards far enough away from the steering wheel in order to swivel.
This is the driver’s seat mounted onto the lengthened runners.
Image

These are the two front seats in the van. The good thing about Ford Galaxy seats is that the Transit seat belts will fit the Galaxy seat buckles so I don’t have to do any seat belt mods.
Image

The front seats swivelled backwards. The driver’s seat not only has transit lengthened runners but it also has the Galaxy runners just in case I need extra backwards movement. But I really kept the Galaxy runners on mainly because it was easier to keep them on instead of taking them off and make new fasteners.
Image

This is a view from the passenger’s side. The pass seat only has the Galaxy runners.
Image

View from inside the camper. Seats facing forwards and lining up with the standard transit floor mounts. I’ve moved the hand brake which allows a walkway between the seats.
Image

View from inside the camper with the seats swivelled around so they can now be utilise inside the living area of the camper instead of just facing forward and used only for driving the van.
Image

That’s it for the seats for the moment as tomorrow I’m picking up some stainless tube, and other stainless exhaust bits and pieces to build a stainless exhaust.

Cheers guys, keep up the good work on your vans.
