Just read through this - that is one amazing creation. You must have balls of steel to take on a such a major amount of work
Very very impressive - you have almost built a new van from the ground up!

Not much of an update

The vans been totally reliable up to date. Haven't had to do a thing to it.

But the gearbox is now jumping out of reverse a bit. But I do have another one ready to go back in.

I should change it over now but I'll see if it'll last a bit longer. who needs reverse anyway...

Cheers guys.

Cheers guys, thanks for the kind comments.

Hey Screechowl, the roof conversion is easy enough and most people do the conversion to a short wheel base Transit as the SWB Hi-Top isn't as common as longer wheel base Hi-Top Transits.

If you lived local to me I could pop around and give some advice but you haven't said where you live.

Cheers guys.

Thanks dachre...I've no time nor tools to do the conversion myself....I'm soul in charge of & running a little health centre/animal sanctuary here in Manchester, but thanks for replying... :(

Hey dachre, things are looking up, I've had advice on the roof job & as you say it sounds easy peasy & I'm even learning how to neglect my health & my animals to do the work all by myself  This is the plan I've been drawn, what do you think?

Cut out only the centre of blue roof, leaving all guttering & sides intact; the strength of blue van is not then impaired. Cut off green roof above gutter, using disc cutter. Tie green roof to blue van & drive to body shop to have it bonded on with car panel adhesive. Job done! And the remaining sides of the blue van become excellent supports for cupboards  8)

Possible complications: 1. The green roof may split as it is removed

2. Only glue will be holding it on blue van

It's only glued on, but it's glued to the metal roof supports which extend from either sides & are welded to the body! These will have to be cut out & transplanted with the roof! That is making it much more difficult, so I'm stuck. Think I'll have to forget it

Yeah, you do have to chop off the rear door metal supports/gutter and then weld them on to the new van then bond the roof to the supports.
