Mk2 V8 Day Van

Postby martynx » Thu Aug 19, 2010 4:10 pm

Well here's a start ! bought this Mk2 as an unfinished project... it has a 3.5 Rover V8, Jag rear axle Chevy front chassis/suspension/brakes/steering.. nice 4 barrrell weber carb & tubular wrapped manifolds, & loads of other goodies.. no idea on condition of anything mechanical internally so step by step will try to get it running & go from there...

No engine wiring really so 1st job was getting it turning over, done. & today , put oils in the transmission & engine, fit some HT leads & wire coil up temporarily get some sparks...

*Its a bit flintstones inside at the mo, so no need for aircon just yet.

I'll let you know up North Weald next July :o

Seriously yes its fine, also the pics dont show it but theres lots of plated strengthening in the engine bay area of the inner wings & the new chassis legs , and all are welded to a new crossmember up front..

But I will put back a floor area to some extent , it was only so heavily chopped out in order to get clearance for the chevvy front end & engine etc .. the poor b*stard got parkinsons apparently & couldnt finish it. Was in his name on the V5 for 24years & he was working on it for 18 of them :!: When you see the fabrication , the guys is clearly a dedicated & talented man , as well as all the welding he made the side door , tailgate, & bonnet himself out of fibreglass...

I will have a good crack at finishing it & would love to get it sorted enough for it to be a daily driver but its by far the biggest project i have ever done so we will see..
