Mattblackminibus, thank you, but I'm far from a genius, I've just been lucky enough to work with some real genius's in everyday working life..

Luke, any more info please? I'll get the front in the air tomorrow and have a good look, I wasn't planning on using the mk3 hubs, but I was about to modify the mk3 wishbones.. It'd be nice to "just" bolt the subframe in place once painted aha, cheers for the heads up

Cheers dannyboysean, I do struggle with mojo sometimes, it helps with positive comments! Seems a never ending task aha

Ha,sorry, forgot to answer your question Matt, pretty useless at this forum stuff..no, I didn't weld the spring hangers in place, I fitted new bushes and used high tensile plated bolts
Thanks again

i cant remember exactly - might be worth an ask in the mk3/4/5 section  - but the front bolts are 12mm on the mk3 and 10mm on the mk4/5 i think the wishbones might be the same but not sure - the struts hubs and top mounts are different :)

Hi Ray900tap,
The camper you bought used to belong to my m8. He was left it in a will. I have emailed him pics of the roof on your van.

AlanN will be able to confirm the differences as he's swapped a Mk5 wishbone onto his Mk3 but he did say that it shifted the wheel position (cant remember if he said back or forward :?: ) about 15/20mm

good meeting you and your van andrew, loved that little play up the dualer aha..

ok, hold tight fellas, I may only be making an update aha..

so its the never ending rust chasing, these things sure like to rot!
bought a few panels off ebay, started with the lower O/S middle section

Image

then more cutting...

Image

I made an inner sill section from the roof panel I cut out

Image

Image

treated and zinc primed, maybe itll hold back the rot till the next MOT

Image

the cheapo lower panel wasn't even close to the right shape or radius, but hey, £12 shouldn't complain aha, so I made a template to show the radius, then used the shrinker stretcher at work to gain the correct panel shape

Image

Image
(crap pictures but you get the idea)

the centre of the panel was still off, and I really don't want it full of filler if/when I paint the ol'girl.. so...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

on to other repairs..
more recycled metal

Image

Image

(shhhhhh... don't say anything, but I've actually welded in my arches  )

Image

once the front subframe is finished and fitted, this is the goal!

Image

talking of the front subby... not sure if I'd posted this picture before?

Image

few other little pictures..
wheel bearing collapsed, so thought I clean everything up seeing it was out

Image

interior back in, for now aha...

Image

latest news, I May have scored a granada ultima cosworth V6, engine is still running in the car... could anybody please be kind enough to send links to threads where this has already been done? I've searched loads but I'm drawing a blank? this is 100% the route I'd like to go, did I mention the Eaton supercharger I've kicking around?

cheers

Wow what a job! Well done! You know you'll need the wiring for the cosy engine don't you? And the brain.... But good luck, loving what you're doing.

Hasn't Luke still got his old engine for sale? With conversion kit and twin turbos? ;-)

The little drive back to the M40 was interesting, shame we kept getting blocked by other inconsiderate drivers stopping us properly see which was quicker lol
