but if it chips (or scratched when tyres are put on) you can't touch it in...

Paint is the best option ;)
Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tape.....

I have got a spot blaster but not sure if that would work,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160720783214? ... 1586.l2649
I have got this one on fleabay (see my other items too!)
and I'm keeping one, but don't know if it'd be up to wheels,
I am going to paint them,
I'd still like a set of cheapies to paint up as don't really want the van sitting on bricks while I am doing them!!
I'm thinking of maybe doing the wheels white and the dish part red or the other way round maybe!! not sure but I am trying to think of some way so it doesn't look like a fire engine!!

Todays Progress,
today I welded up some holes in the cab and ground down, then sprayed with blue hammerite!!!
It's ok it's going to be under the carpet!!!
so hopefully that's the cab rust cured!
I borrowed a sander to do my wing, trying to blend it so it's flat, I needed a rectangular sander as mine is round, but 5 mins into the job it blew up!! yes I told the owner!!
so things are going slowly but surely!!

did a bit more today, finally got a sander and rubbed down the join in the wing, then went over with fine stuff and sprayed a bit of hibuild on it to stop it going rusty in the cold!
still don't look quite right but it's hard to tell without paint so now I can see where needs a bit more filler!
hopefully I can do something else tomorrow! got to find some cheap bits for the other side!

Today I did a bit more rubbing down and filling, sprayed on some hi build just to see what it looks like and to stop the damp too much, and it looks like this

so now that's covered I thought i'd make a start on the other side, I didn't intend to buy panels for the n/s but I thought I hadf better do it properly if at all so I had a look at it
I had already ground loads of the rust out

but, no I'm not filling,,, out comes the grinder!! and

Then the batteries ran out on the camera and it got too darn dark again!

Top quality job :D

Do you have a powerful heater or something :?:

I certainly couldn't even think of painting in this weather

lol no,, hot air gun!! went over the area to make sure it was dry, and I keep my paint indoors so it's room temp then take it outside and spray,,, then I baked the paint on with gentle hot air, just put the primer on to protect it even tho it's in the shed, and you can't see any defects till paints on, there are a few little bits that need a bit more tlc but mostly it's flat ish!!
