Postby mk2transit22 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 4:00 pm

Hey everyone, i recently bought a mk2 transit van that has was running before the owner removed the engine to clean it up, it has a 250 crossflow in it and is getting no spark, all the wirring from the dizy, coil, ignition module to ignition are messed up! Im having a really hard time getting it right, if anyone has any info to help get me moving i would be very greatfull, also i have tried to just hotwire the coil but thats not even doing anything, the car gets reds, and cranks , i hope i have givven enough info for someone to help me, he also replaced the coil and ignition module if that helps, any help would be great!!!

gidday, mine pulled similar stunt recently.it ended up being the black module on the dizzy plus a dodgy power feed to positive side of coil.failing that could be the plastic drive spindle at bottom of dizzy.had an xf chew it to bits resulting in no go.or you could try a points set up out of earlier 250.it fits right up and works ace.keep us posted or if need bits got tons of 250 bits here.cheers

should just need +12V to coil to make it work, otherwise problem is in dizzy/module/coil/HT leads/rotor. Remove cap and crank- does the dizzy turn over? remove HT lead from coil, is there spark at coil lead when cranking? need more information as to what you have checked already

could be firing order from the ht leads on the wrong plugs at distributor, but i doubt it
I would go to a points set-up as suggested.

other option is to find an XE-XF falcon and study the ignition set up.one bung wire could stop the show.am keen to find out what problem is :)
