Rescue Mk2 Ambulance - Jaywick

Postby miked1955 » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:47 pm

Hi,

I am starting to sort out my recently deseased brother's stuff.

This includes a 1984 Ambulance in his garden at Jaywick, Essex. DVLA says that it has been off the road since 1994 - so pre-SORN.

I could do with any help in finding a good home, as I would hate to see going for scrap. So would be happy to hear from anybody that can help.

I will also be posting pictures to Flickr User: gleaner1955.

Hello,

Yes - but it's an advertisement, not an auction.

So price quoted is irelevant. It costs £16 to post ad regarless of headline price. Only looking for people to register an interest. Will try to clear out back next week and have a better look at it.

Cheers - Mike

Hi,

This may be like like "teaching grandmother's to suck eggs" but, the Ebay listing is an advertisement, with no obligation to sell.

It is there for 28 days so anybody interested in the ambulance can use it to send me a message.

I am more interested in finding somebody able to shift it than making any money. So I'm open to offers.

I ran the ad listing on Ebay to end after clearing front of ambulance and taking more pictures and amended amount to £250. I got a last minute offer of £125, which expired as soon as the listing ended. Some people don't know the difference between an Ebay ad and an auction! Pondered relisting as an auction, but as the best offer I have had so far is £175, it wouldn't be worth it after fees. So will probably let it go to Jaywick locals for a nominal amount.

Final Ebay listing text was as follows;

"My brother has just passed away and I am sorting out his affairs.

This includes a 1984 Ford Ambulance in the front garden of his bungalow at Jaywick, Essex..

Vehicle has been off road since 1994 - so is pre-SORN.

I spent a day clearing brambles from the front of ambulance adn found out that the front inner wings and grill are badly rusted and have parted company! The bonnet was loose and a write-off due to rust.

It appears my brother could not weld it because the outer front wings, windscreen and cab roof are a single fibreglass moulding, and beyond his ability to remove. So started to cut off one wing before thinking better of it, see photo.

Apart from this cut, the fibreglass appears intact. Most of the original internal ambulance fittings are still present. Has only added a plywood shelf to the left rear wheel arch to take a fridge and cooker.

The small middle upper widow on the passenger side is broken."

The uprated engine for this model is present and appears to be in one piece, although the air filter housing has rusted away.

it'd be a shame to let it go for scrap as it wouldn't fetch much being mainly fibreglass.i'd have it but it would be a pain to get it to ireland.how long do people have to make an offer before you get rid of her?

Pity but it looks too far gone.
Underneath is probably shot to buggery as well.Handy for spares for someone with a Mk2 amby I guess but it would have to be someone very local.

I am having a break after a couple of hectic weeks. I left it with a neighbour to contact a potential buyer the Sunday before last, but they never got back to me.

Brother's funeral tomorrow, so will have to go up there in a couple of weeks to collect ashes and I intend to strip out the gas fridge and cooker while there.

Prefab will take around three months to sell to neighbour, who is happy to scrap it if I walk away. Plenty of locals who will strip it down for them for free.

Was not impressed with Ebay as I had the ad up for 28 days and nobody made arrangements to view it. Just a few low offers from people located miles away without any real indication if they were capable of recovering it.

Hi,

I put up the ambulance on a 7 day auction ending today and added 10 more photos to Flickr,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190746527745? ... 1586.l2649

So far 1145 people have looked at the auction, 35 are watching and 6 people have bid. But on the other hand, only between 3 and 5 people have looked at the pictures I took on Friday! Still it's up the £102 so far.

I spent half a day on Friday clearing out the inside after a local metal dealer had taken the heavy stuff. Loads of Lada and Skoda bits!

Putting it up as a 28 day ad first was a mistake, the only people who tried to engage me in a converstion wanted it for next to nothing. Ignored a high offer made before the condition of the front was apparent, they never got in touch again after I updated the listing. Bloke who said he was interested in it for a museum, disapeared at that point too.

One tip - don't wait till the last minute to put in an offer on an Ebay ad as offers "expire" when the ad ends. So you get lumped in with the "what are you going to do with it now?" dingbats that send messages after the end.
