As far as I know, all the kits have gone on V6's so far.

I do still think that they would be good on the V4's, giving a fifth gear and better economy.
Most people that fit non standard engines in the Mk1's would opt for a five speed box anyway.

The kit will fit both engines and I do think that it is a fair price, £175, for the adapter plate considering the development work that has gone into it.

hi all read about your conversion plate and regarding it fits a v6 will it fit a v4 the answer is yes it will a v4 is the same block as the v6 just two added cylinder and as regards too the balance shaft this will in no shape or form affect anything too do with watever box you put on i have married a v6 straight upto my existing v4 box for years ford kept the same bellhousing stud pattern ,which is why you could take a engine from escorts transits corsairs granadas the whole range and just plant them upto watever box you wanted

not to mention the £1000's in test plates and man hours !!! bloody good price m8 no worries there!

gotta be circa £5k in costs if not more just to develop these types of projects!!!

and it does make for a much much better driving experience having a shed load of throttle still to go at 70mph...am barely depressing gas at all on motorway cruising, unlike the di where foot was to the floor! 8)

Hey guys happy to say um pretty sure my heat problem is fixed...
New dizzy as mechanical and vac advance were seized!
Now timed up and sounding sweet.

I just gotta change exhaust gaskets cos appaently they not flame proof
But the 12 spares I got won't ever see flame now the timing is sorted.

Top tip for those doing your conversion.... Whilst lump out,

Change your clutch fork... I wish I thought to as mine is shagged ,
It's the type with a silly block at end that detaches with wear so you can't fully get all gears.

Do it whilst you have access even if you think the 30 year old one is fine
That or perhaps reinforce yours with a metal rod affair

Only sayin this as its my last hurdle to fun fun fun

So its looking good guys

Cheers again Tim man! Catch up soon dude

Just read the whole thread and what a bloody good read, I've been thinking of how to get a bit more 'oomph' from my old di for a while but the v6 option looks very tempting indeed, top work gents! :D I'm off to e-bay now engine hunting.
