mk1 V4 gearbox and V6 Marcos overdrive box

Postby Ellwood » Sun Sep 16, 2012 7:35 am

Hi, With future intent on upgrading to a V6 for my old V4 Tranny engine, i stumbled opon and impulse bought a newly renovated gearbox with overdrive from a Marcos- which is supposed to fit Capri, Granada, Scimitar etc. This idea maybe wasnt so good, because when i got it home and compared them , the gearstick is in a totally different end of the box to my old Tranny V4. the rear uphanging bushing on the v4 box is not present on the Marcos box.
I can post photos later, but it all looks very bleak at the moment, and seems like someone else is gonna have the pleasure of my overdrive box.

Any Tips ?

I finally got around to uploading the pics. So is there anything i can change on the new 5 speed box so i can use it on my V4 ? the gear lever is totally in the wrong place- obviously i didnt think of this when i bought it unseen. the way i see things it isnt possible without a lot of work and linkages ??? How does everyone else fix this with overdrive boxes?

ps, the original box has a rubber insert holder bushing holding it onto the van, is there any replacements, as i see mine is on its last legs.

I'd be flogging that and buying a proper Transit OD box. No way is that a straightforward conversion to work in a Transit.
