Apparently the distribution of air and fuel in the stock single carb V6 manifold is terrible, the centre cylinders get the lions share of the air and fuel, and the end cylinders are down quite a large percentage, less than 90% of what the centre cylinders get. The rear two cylinders run hotter as they tend to run leaner. The "W" deflector fitted by Ford under original twin choke was an attempt to alleviate this a bit. I can't imagine how bad the single choke setup would be, as the carb is very close to the front of the engine on these manifolds, and not centred like the twin choke. The triple carb setup gives one throat for each cylinder, and apparently wakens the engine up everywhere, not just top end power. I have not fitted and tried them yet, so cannot say this from my own experience, but a few people I know who have had them say the difference is significant and very noticable. And they look cool too

I think plugs leads fine and I've just done away with points and fitted electronic ignition but still pretty much the same so I'm presuming carb related
