Hi thats not a high top just a standard roof. It looks like it may have been a minibus at some point maybe the 9 refered to the number of seats?

maybe this pic helps with the roof perspective. there is a ridge around the side of the roof where the std roof height would be. ???

thanks for clarifying the roof height.

as in the first pics i put up the line i made mention to is sort of obscured. hence why i posted the other one which makes it look higher again.

i've not seen any other LWB ones with a roof line like mine, well actually i haven't seen any as long to be honest. so i assumed it was a mid or high roof going by later models that you can seem to get any wheel base with the option of low (std hight?) mid or high. and leaned toward high.

no doubt you may get the odd dumb Q? that is a well known fact that i haven't found out via searching to date. i'm new to transits and know little about the older models.

stripped out 2 mk2's as they were too far gone to bring back to life. and scored this one a while ago and am now in the process of rebuilding it.

i'm not sure where it was before i bought it. i bought it from evilBay

it was in Bendigo. but the people i got it from said the previous owner carted his motorcross bikes around in it. and had been across the Nullarbor and back.

yes it had an alloy head crossflow with a single barrel stromberg on it. which i didn't know was an option, but i haven't had a good look at the intake manifold to see if it's an iron head one that's been modified.

my plans are C9 auto, ITB efi using EA ECU, roller lifter cam, custom grind unknown yet. roller rockers. 40mm ports, 4L XG/ 7 counterweight crank, BA rods and don't know what pistons yet either. the engine builder will sort all that out once he gets the block. oh and vapour injected LPG.

BA callipers. not sure if to leave std pcd or go falcon. has 5 14" matching steelies. Wellers :?: i believe going by the wheel thread.

thanks for everyone's input so far, much appreciated.

sounds great, falcon gear fits up easy just make sure that you use an xf wagon or ute diff as they had leaf rear not coil.everything fits 8) .you can allso fit 10 inch rims on the back.you just need to roll the edge of chassis.can send pics of my gearbox mounts for c4 and all rear end if needed.keep us posted mate.cheers

thanks Mr Meanie :P

the paint guy got back to me today, he came up with a listing for Yellow Blaze from 75 onwards. i emailed him a few pics and it matches as close as he can via pics etc.. google pics show it's the same as XB Yellow Blaze.

but i'm thinking i may go custom two tone. HO white with copper orange metal flake in clear, over white pearl in the clear. so top half in orange over white and bottom white pearl over white.

what hubs, bearings and discs are you running on your van?

i trail fitted up the 2 piece XB style hub with Falcon bearing cups and Transit bearings. i had to fit a spacer behind the inner bearing to get it to tighten up on the outer bearing correctly.

but being the Tranny ones are imperial and the Falc ones metric. i didn't know how it would all go mixing and matching them. i'm yet to take both sets into the parts guy to see if he can get me a set with A/F i.d. and metric o.d. but i'm not liking my chances.

CRS want $500 for a conversion kit that consists of the calliper bracket to fit HQ callipers. and 'egg ring' to adapt the inner bearing and seal. they said you just run the falc outer bearing. but the i.d. is larger and does not seat on the axle correctly.

my hub assembly is xf falcon with standard mk1 stub axles.i used the master and booster from te or tf cortina 6 as my van had drum brakes.everything bolted up neat as.my van was originally a 4 cyl mk1 there could be differences in frontends between mk1 and mk2 Australian vans.im surprised xb parts didnt fit btw my callipers are xe fairmont i hope this is of some help.cheers

i'm not sure about the difference between mk1 and mk2 stubs and the difference between drum stubs and disc stubs.

but the CRS site said their kit suits all transit up to '80 stubs.

did you use falc bearings or tranny ones? in the xf hubs.

what bracket did you use to mount the callipers?

i used 6 cyl mk1 Australian transit backing plates with falcon discs and bearings were supplied by local bearing firm i gave them the measurement and they found suitable bearings.from memory they were international truck parts.the only draw back is the offset on the falc rims widens the front track a tad.i do suffer a fair amount of front bias under hard stops mainly due to extra weight and forward position of the 250 engine.it tends to really jack up and the back wants to pass the front if crash stopped from highway speed.damn frightening.

i have started the conversion to falcon pcd.

the transit inner bearings pressed straight into the XB hubs, i forgot to take an outer bearing with me to the parts shop. so i'll have to get them next.

then look at the diff swap.

I used a CRS kit years ago on a Mk1.
Transit bearings fit into XY hubs and hQ calipers.
Kit was $150 and I thought it was overpriced!
$500 is ridiculous...

the problem with CRS now is since Rod sold it years ago when he went to the states with his Fighter plain Chev. the business has been sold a number of times. and none of the kits have been revised, nor has the quality of product assembly been improved any.

the Mk1/2 V8 crossmember is a joke. so too was the V8 into XK-XP kit. you can do a better job in the back shed.

only thing is CRS has the engineer approval status. which makes getting it passed by an engineer much easier. which i think is wrong. it should go on the quality of the construction not a piece of paper that says it's good quality.
