hi there,

my early mk1 has it the other way arround.
The rod operated cluth was converted to cable but with the original pedal assembly.

I'd say you need the early under the floor mounted pedal assembly and brake master cylinder to do this as the later style hanging pedals are nowhere near the required height for the clucth.
The haynes manual has a pretty detailed illustration of it.

But I would advise against it as the force neede to press the clutch pedal seems to be notibly higher with this pedal setup.

Why don't you just replace the cable?

If it would help you I could try to find the page from the Haynes Manual and upload it somewhere.
But Really, it's not worth the hassle. Just keep a spare cable.

Edit: especially since I think it would be a lot of work/ nearly impossible to combine the servo brake unit, if you have one, with the floor mounted pedals

they are available from motomobil, com iirc.

I thought about it some more but if you have the manual you know that it is set up like this in the early transits because the clutch arm actually went the other way vs newer models. Not sure how you gonna do it. have a link to the drawing you are referencing?

personally it seems a lot of work. I would stick with the cable but then again I am a lazy git!. Cable replacement takes less than an hour an fitting the rods could tke a week! No contest if you ask me.....
