Steering box adjustment

Postby bov783 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 8:11 pm

Hi all

Just a bit of advise. My 1978 travel home has a lot of slack on the steering box. I can see what seems to be an adjuster. I looks like a screw with a locking bolt around it . Is is worth touching or best left alone. It drives ok. Also dose it run in oil which should be checked ??
Many thanks
Phil

That's the adjuster.
Loosen lock nut, adjust then tighten locknut.
Don't go too far though.
If you do you will get tight spots in the steering.
Probably won't be able to get all the play out without going too far but you'll get some out.

They do have oil but I'm at work and not near the manual to check what grade.
