I saw that van very many moons ago at the Motor Show. At first glance it looked brand new but on closer inspection it did have imperfections. IIRC it had about 34,000 miles on the clock. There was a bit of a write-up about it. The gist was that, incredibly, Ford had never saved an early van during production for their museum. They bought this one secondhand; I think it had been stored in a garage for some years and I think it had been pale blue. Ford restored it and painted it in the GEC colours, GEC having been one of their largest customers. It is a genuine 1965 van though.

I beg to differ. The kindest thing I could say when I saw it was disappointing...

I worked for GEC and, without exception, they used Bedford vans.

GEC-Elliot Traffic Automation was not even formed until 1970 and...

The livery changed to Yellow/Black in 1973.

That van is so wrong in many ways.....

You'd have thought a company the size of Ford might have researched it a bit more thoroughly, it being an important vehicle in their European history! Maybe they should have restored it in the state they found it.

Still nice to see as it begins its fiftieth year though.

too right. If I had Ford's money, I would have a hanger full of complete minters. Thats the disappointing bit. They have the money but clearly don't care enough to spend it.
