The top corners of the windscreen, Mk1's are rounded and so I'd the screen rubber. Mk2's have squared off "ears" on the rubbers that sit in recesses in the roof. The van in question has cracks in its roof where the recesses would be, leading to suspicion of the presence of filler??

I have seen Mk2's with that screen rubber and recesses that you describe. But mine does not have these???? I very much doubt it has had a replacement roof, and does not look like the recesses have been filled either??? :?:

It is a 1979. Just went went and scratched the paint off, and it is all steel under there, no filler! I looked through all of my pics of Mk2's from NZ, and found several (including pickups) that don't have the rubber with the "ears", or the recess.

I am unsure whether FORD NZ assembled them here from CKD kits, as they were doing with other British Fords of the time. Date of first rego was 2/79, so was probably built 1978. How many other Mk2 owners on here have this type of screeen surround/rubber fitted? I bet I am not the only one

If they were CKD then the roof would make sense - if they had excess mk1 stock in CKD form or shells remaining rather than discount them to sell them they may as well update them to Mk2 spec whilst being assembled. All the unused Mk1 panels could easily have been resold as new.
