Engine question

Postby colm77 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 9:35 pm

Not sure where to post this one but i'l chance it, im sure the engine in my series 2 landy is a 2.4 york, im not too well up on old diesel engines and thought i'd try here with a few questions.
The first is the Di sticker on the air filter, fairly obvious but i wouldnt just go on just that. The second is the Lucas CAV pump has feed pipes going directly to each cylinder. Does this make it the direct injection and if it does, does that make it a 2.5?
Sorry if this seems a bit stupid but at least maybe someone got a laugh from my lack of knowledge :P
Thanks.

Colm.

Yes on di but don't know if its 2.5. Have you joined landyzone? Those lads are helpful. ;)

n8rbos thanks again. Yorks in landys seem to be the least popular conversion but i can always give it a go, thanks

Here it is, hope it shows enough to tell. The cooling system still uses the landy radiator so some hoses are basterdised to make it work.

Luke, just had a look, like you said it's there, 85 31A, so this makes it a 1985, does that make it an early Di?

Just found a picture of this engine, it's a 2.5 di, a popular landy conversion apparently, but not good for mud plugging, crap gets behind the cover in amongst the cambelt.

If you go on Mustang owners club of great britain! Look for ford transit id thread its there ;) hope this helps.
