Hi All

I need to get around to sorting the rust creeping up the pillars. Before I go to happy with the angle grinder, does anyone know if replacement / repair sections are available?

I'm talking about the upright pillars (1) to which the front doors hinge (2) against which the front doors close and (3) at the rear. They are not completely gone, from what I can see the bottom 6 inches need to go. I do have an old school panel beater who can make these up if they are broadly straight but I'd prefer good quality pressed parts.

Also need the bottom 6 inches of door panels.

All ideas appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

We are working on the lower front door repair sections, I was discussing this with 'The Mad Machinist' only this afternoon.

The parts will be profile cut in Zintec sheet, tooling is being manufactured to produce the 'curve' and the folds on the edges ready for the panel to be secured to the door shell as you would a door 'skin'.
Would a depth of six inches be sufficient for these?

We are also working on the headlamp panels for the Mk2, a member has kindly offered us a pattern, we will be collecting this from Transitmania.
Are these something that would help you chaps?

We also have an old stock rear spring hanger, believed to be for a Mk1, again we would like to produce these.
Any of you attending Transitmania this weekend would be welcome to inspect this part and assist in accurate identification before we start 'production'.

See you chaps at the show,

Headlamp panels would be very handy, also rear door pillar/corner panels, I need a pair myself currently, scuttle panel, front spring hangers(needed now also) front cross member, inner and outer wings, inner and outer door step sills, any panels really, we all know how these poor old girls rot!

i'm in no position to buy anything at the moment so hopefully panels will be available when I can but any panels you can make can only be a good thing.
thanks for making the effort.

You might well be in luck soon mate, I have been looking into producing these but needed samples.
Today I had a call from one of our suppliers, they have some 'old stock' parts they are clearing out from one of their depots, everything that is not in the current listings and says 'Transit' on it is coming our way :D

The parts should be with me in the next week and according to the Rep there are some lower rear corners for the 'older vans'.

I will need to keep one of each side for 'patterning' but I will be able to offer the surplus to forum members, I will give you first refusal on these since you have asked.

I do also have the right hand end of the rear valence, this might also help with your project.

I should have the parts bundle by the end of next week, like said, you can have first shout on the rear lower corners, from the picture the rep sent me today is does look like there is a pair in with other parts.

Because our suppliers are aware that we specialise in supplying Transit parts through the Forum we get offered any old stock items returned from other customers of theirs.

If it does turn out that we have parts you need then I would be happy to 'put your name' on them.

Mk1/2 Body Panels and Lamps

Great news, Delilah also needs the rear lower corners. Will you be fabricating them? How much do you think they'll cost us?

The plan is to produce basic tooling to copy the parts that we can no longer get, I do have a 'plan' for the rear lower corners, but until I get some to copy it remains just a 'plan' :(

Just to let you and members know I produce the front crossmembers, complete headlamp panels and front spring hangers. The crossmembers are on ebay. I'm just working on the crossmember closing panel along with the captive nuts where the front grill panel bolts to.
If anyone wants anything just email me.
