con rod locating pin missing

Postby walt1984 » Tue Mar 25, 2014 8:14 pm

my dad has started rebuilding his essex v4 to go back into his camper but have come accross a small problem that hes not sure about.
one of the big end cap locating pins is missing, it was missing when it was stripped. could it been missing from new as the engine has low miles and is still stamped up with ford std.would running the engine with one pin have any affect on the engine.
its only on 1 conrod the other 3 have 2 pins.
thank you.

When I dismantled my old engine I found a couple missing. Take it along to a decent engineering shop and get a pin to replace the missing one (you'll have to grind it down to length). It will probably make no difference but they are easy to obtain.
