Just bought a mk1 pickup!

Postby Focustjohn » Sat May 31, 2014 10:55 pm

So me and my dad bought a mk1 pickup from Essex that was recently on eBay, it got delivered this morning and it's in a sorry state, holes in hone floor, holes in the steps, holes in the wings, needs a complete respray. Anyway IV uploaded some pics, we have ordered a new floor plan and other stuff.

Where is best to get both wings?

The van is currently blue but I think it has been resprayed before. The van was parked up in a field in 1985 and has not Been used since. The previous owner said the engine does tick over but coughs and spluts, I don't think the key is original as it looks like an old fiesta key. How easy is getting hold of a new set of keys with barrels etc?

Turns out I can't upload pics on my iPad, I will do this tomorrow.

Is there someone selling some wings? I will upload pics soon off my girlfriends laptop, my dad is unsure what to do with it, once the floor has been rewelded and sorted RS actually a solid pickup, he's thinking of putting a V8 in it, has this been done? If so what engines best to use?

Are parts hard to find? Iv been on eBay and my dad had ordered some new steps but it needs new arches aswel.

Ah, welcomed to the mk1 fr-owners club and the very best of luck. Yes, parts are hard to find and becoming more difficult and expensive but hey, one day you will laugh at this :)

Iv seen you can get new wings off a website for 280 each, if we have to get them then that's tough but wouldn't mind some cheaper second hand ones as there going to look the same when painted!
