MK1 overdrive limit switches

Postby Ellwood » Tue Jun 24, 2014 8:36 pm

Hi, on my newly aquired MK1 overdrive gearbox there are limit switches for 1st and 2nd gear detection (and reverse), which prevent the OD being accidently activated. half of one of these limit switches is missing. Any ideas where i can find one, or how to sort it ?
Cheers

Hello
I'll have a look at my gearbox later to refresh my memory, the switches are probably used on other applications. The important one is the one stopping engagement in reverse as this will damage the overdrive beyond repair.

Hi there, we recently carried out an Mt75 conversion for a customer, we still have the overdrive gearbox.

We could send you the switch in the post if it helped.

I suspect the answer to this is pretty obvious but is the box and O/D any good?

There was a problem with the gearbox/overdrive unit, we did not really test the unit since the customer was keen to fit the Mt75. The gearbox, as far as I know, was still working, the van was driven to us by the customer and was still in use up until it arrived for the gearbox conversion, the gearbox was not noisy etc when we drove it in, we only used 1st and reverse to maneuver the vehicle on our premises, it might just have been an electrical problem :?:

I would far rather that the gearbox go to someone that might be able to make use of it, even for parts, rather than ending up in the scrap bin

I am happy to save it for a forum member, naturally DodgeRover will have first offer.

Do you have the spindle that the speedo drive connects to inside? Is it an Argo model? I have one on my mk1 which has broken.

The gearbox is complete, less the overdrive switch, so I am sure the part you require is there.
I will take a photo of the gearbox later and post it up on this thread.
Happy to post the part to you if we have what you need.
