the reason the front track is wider than the back is someone f____ed up when they were building it! There is no logical reason why this would be done deliberately on something that will be driven around a race track. Probably safe to assume the complete back end is GT40, including driveshafts and drive flanges. So wheel offset and width will determine track width. I struggle to think of even road cars that have a wider front track than rear. Old Citroens aside, I really can't think of any. Rear wheels and tyres are the same width as fronts. They may appear wider at front because of the narrow rear track, and the high cut front wheelarches.

Supervan 2 and 3 look right as they were essentially just a fibreglass replica Transit bodyshell flopped on top of a sportscar tub. It is quite obvious in the video with Jackie Stewart driving that it is a much better handling beast.

I think it was so the tyres didn't foul the arches.

My Lada has wider front track by 2 inches.

If you mean the high cut (and very elongated) front wheel arches, then yes. SV also has the rear inner wheel tubs from a LWB van fitted, these go inboard much further than the SWB tubs to clear the dual wheels. The eyecrometer tells me that the wheels on SV1 are about 15-16 inches wide. It is running old Firestone racing rubber, these were treaded tyres, just prior to the moment someone discovered that tyres without tread worked better on race cars! The tyres look like CanAm or sports car tyres from the day.

the rear of my mk 1 single wheel measures almost the same as my mk 2 twin wheel from the outside edges of the tyres

Looks like Revolution 4 spoke wheels on the model, but I am not sure if that is correct. Certainly not wide enough on the model in comparison to the real one. I think I paid way too much for the model!

nice pic- thanks:) Looks odd in side view, huge gap around front wheels, and rear flares tucked quite tightly around. When I got the model yesterday I thought it looked wrong, but seems it is not a bad replica!
