Help identify mk1 transit

Hi folks any help appreciated my mates just got mk 1 swb van we have no number plates or plate of the step only tag we can find is the one pictured below its on the bulk head we believe it's a later mk1 as the pedals do not come through floor

The chassis no will be stamped into the front nearside spring hanger.

I'm sure I can see the remains of a number there, might be worth trying a rotary wire brush to clean it up :idea:

if you find one chances are dvla wont have any record of it has it come in from malta?
