What's the difference

How can you tell apart a 2l v4 from a 1700v4 and are all 17s German ones

you can get essex 1.7 and 2.0

externally i dont think there is a way to tell an essex 1.7 V4 from a 2.0 V4 :?

the cologne ones the biggest is a 1.7 :)

I was told the 1.7 or 2.0 is stamped on the block but....

As it's years since I looked i ain't gotta clue where 8) :lol: :lol:

I would normally agree with you Neil but......

Back in 1970, after having a Driving Licence less than 2 months,

I got my first endorsement for doing 88 mph on the M1 in a Transit 8) 8)

I drove mine (ex German fire van 1977 MK1 twin - Taunus V4 1.7 engine) at 100 km/h. It could have been more, but I've been a pussy ! ;-)

Stick a long piece of wire down the plug hole and measure the stroke.
Funny how time changes your perspective. I can remember driving a brand new LWB two litre down a motorway. We were all blown away by the size of the van and the indicated 75mph. Compared to the commers and thames etc about at the time,the transit seemed amazing.
