Mk1 Dip/Ind/Horn Switch

Postby Trinny » Thu Mar 12, 2015 6:23 pm

I was out in van at night, operated rocker switch to dip....
no lights, side yes flash yes(so not a bulb fail) main yes.indicators fine
Got near home on main when that went too, had to buy and wire in aftermarket off/on/on
switch which I thought would sort it as I suspected the rocker switch was at fault.

No...same problem swapped side and main round still no dip/main,had a play with fuses and fusebox,no change so it's got to be the dreaded column switch?

I've changed the stalk to another 2nd hand one which feels 'tighter'
Now I can get main and dip(and flash) on the stalk but no dash(speedo or warning) or rear lights until I go back to side lights
then all's ok again???

I'm fitting a better side load door at the mo. My '69 van has always had a
Mk2 type door handle and it should be chrome,
am i right in thinking I just need a l/Hand passenger door handle??

Just to clarify: it's not a sliding door which may use another more triangular(at the lock end)shaped
chrome handle which wouild be rare i imagine, it's a hinged side door Passenger side on
1969 RHD UK van
