From the colour of the oil (starts green, goes brown with use), its axle fluid which means the hub seal behind wheel bearing on that side of axle is leaking... so diff oil is emptying itself out through the bearing...
unless its dirty brake fluid which if it is, is coming from a leaking cylinder... check the brake fluid reservoir to be sure. If its low, your lucky, if not, hub and bearing needs to come off and new seal put in.
That noise u can hear is certainly the diff running dry. Personally I wouldn't be driving it any further. Park up, go to a parts shop, get some diff oil and keep it topped up till u can find a mechanic. If leak is soo bad that it just empties out, then get it recovered to a mechanic.. presuming the dmg done to diff isn't already sufficient to warrant a new one..
How many miles/kms since noise started?
Keep in mind that your braking efficiency will be reduced.. after replacing wats need to be done, make sure a liberal amount of brake cleaner is applied to the shoes and drums
