Recommended engine oil for Mk2 diesel 4aa

Dear All,

A friend of mine has Transit Mk2 model 1984, equipped with 2.4 4aa diesel york engine. He is concerned about engine oil. He lives in Moscow, Russia. He says he used to put Petro Canada 15W40 semi synthetic oil, but the local supplier do not have this oil in stock any more and not willing to order a new supply. What engine oil would you suggest for his Transit?

10/40 semi will be fine He could also use 5/30 as is recommended for the later Di engines

Thanks for the prompt response. Would you recommend particular vendor (Castrol, Shell, etc...)?

IMO its better to change oil twice as often and use cheaper oil.

But if you don't wanna touch it again, use some castrol or another well known make.
